(must impact student growth)

__ V. Learning Communities

Step 1 Professional Growth Goal

I will improve the math scores by 70% in my kindergarten class, for SY 2015-2016, in number
identification from 0-30, composing (numbers 11-30) and decomposing (numbers 0-10) numbers, and
addition and subtraction math facts within 10, by observing my classroom, pertinent information about
students, and research as sources for evaluating the outcomes of teaching and learning and as a basis
for reflection and revision.
Standard 4: Reflection and Professional Development; A teacher will enhance their capacity to
improve student achievement through reflective practices and participation in professional
development.
Standard Indicator # 4.1: Uses classroom observation, pertinent information about students, and
research as sources for evaluating the outcomes of teaching and learning and as a basis for reflection
and revision.
Step 2 Your rationale for choosing this goal. (e.g. SMART Goal, department or PLC goal, school goal,

within a positive learning environment in order to be productive citizens.

accreditation, personal reflection, perceived area for growth, etc.)

This goal is aligned with my first goal in planning (Standard 1, Indicator 1.4). I feel this goal will help
me reach the kindergarten grade level SMART Goal and target the Greatest Areas of Need (number
identification, addition and subtraction, & composing and decomposing) in math. With this goal, I
hope to use my observations, student information, and research to evaluate the outcomes of my
teaching and student learning so that I may reflect and revise my lessons to improve student growth.

Step 3 Evidence of Professional Growth/Evidence of Student Growth (e.g., tools, samples, reports,
rubrics, forms, grade reports, agenda, minutes, portfolios, etc.)
As evidence of Professional Growth/Evidence of Student Growth, I will provide a binder with the
following:

Student scores reflecting a pre SMART Goal assessment given in September and a post
SMART Goal assessment given in April, which will measure student growth in the three
Greatest Areas of Need in kindergarten math. The pre/post SMART Goal assessment will show
student growth- by the end of SY 2015-2016, 70% of my students will be at proficiency
(proficiency is scoring 80% or higher in the post SMART Goal assessment) in the three
Greatest Areas of Need in kindergarten math.

AIMS Web assessment scores for Fall, Winter and Spring (Assessment for Number
identification progress)

Graphs showing student growth based on assessments (pre vs. post SMART Goal assessment,
AIMS Web assessment scores)

Observation and reflection notes on lesson plans indicating ways I can improve scores in the
GAN in kindergarten math.

Lesson plans and activities focused on the three Greatest Areas of Needs (number
identification, composing and decomposing, and addition and subtraction) that are aligned with
the districts adopted curriculum recognizing the needs, learning styles, and performance of
diverse learners. 2 lesson plans and/or units for each of the Greatest Areas of Need in
kindergarten math.

Evidence of research found and how I implemented it in my lessons, and how it affected
student growth.

MISSION STATEMENT
