It is with enthusiasm and honor that I recommend Shahil Patel for admission to Augusta University Medical
Scholars Program. He is an outstanding student and young man in so many ways with major strengths in
honesty and integrity. As his Healthcare/Diagnostics teacher and Advisor of both HOSA and National
Technical Honor Society, I have seen many examples of Shahils talent and have been long impressed with
his diligence and work ethic. I have found him to be both a strong student academically and a lead role
model for his peers who exhibits a curiosity to explore and achieve objectives that he sets for both himself
and a group at large.
Shahil has been an active and integral part of Lambert High School and the community where all those
that are working alongside him take notice of his unequivocal fairness and sincerity. In all roles that Shahil
takes on, he upholds the utmost loyalty. He has been a key player and moving force with the founding
and the current success of Lambert High School HOSA which has quickly evolved to be recognized as the
worlds largest and an outstanding chapter due to Shahils effort and ambitions. Currently Shahil exhibits
outstanding leadership skills where his communication style is clear, direct, and inviting to the active
listener. His communication style is one where he expressing himself appropriately. His bedside manner
as a healthcare provider would be excellent; Shahil does an outstanding job with team work due to his
strong and effective communication abilities. He possesses both verbal and non-verbal skills that have
lead him to success. Furthermore Shahil is an active member in several National Honor Societies where he
blends his educational and community service to serve the greater good through his personal compassion
for others. Shahil has enrolled in high school with accelerated, AP and honors course work and continues
to master the content successfully by adjusting and managing his educational requirements. I definitely
foresee this young man to be able to attain his academic goals due to his effort, attention to detail, and
ambitions.
This young man is an exceptional student who takes pleasure in learning for learning sake and absorbs
whatever he can from a class or experience and often goes the extra mile to learn more about a topic that
interests him, in particular his extraordinary interests in healthcare. Examples include his participation in
the summer healthcare internship and Clinical Lab shadow experience at our community hospital.
Additionally Shahil has participated in a yearlong patient care internship where the healthcare physician
mentor expressed he exemplifies an innovative thinker and one who turns his thoughts into action.
Shahil shadowed in oncology, emergency medicine, surgery and physical rehabilitation. His educational
goal is to pursue a career utilizing his gifts and talents to serve others.
