The Need for Illegality
The topic of illegal immigration is a highly debated issue in the United States. As the
presidential election rages on, the candidates usually take a stance on their view on immigration.
Many democrats argue for a more lenient and caring standpoint when dealing with the issue of
immigrations whereas republicans argue for an intense and radical in regards to immigration.
Illegal immigration does have both positives and negatives but, the pros outweigh the cons.
Illegal immigration is a necessary entity to have in the United States because of their economic
assistance, cultural diversity, and need for refuge.
One major reason that illegal immigrants should be allowed in the United States is
because of the help they provide to the economy. Illegal immigrants often work for cheaper labor
and are known to be hardworking people since they are trying to support their families. Since
illegal immigrants dont need to be paid minimum wage and work for such a cheap rate many of
the goods and services we have are valued at a lower price ("List of Pros and Cons of Illegal
Immigration"). For example, many illegal immigrants work on farms and pastures for incredibly
cheap salaries. Since farmers pay these immigrants so little, they are able to sell their products
for a lower price while still making a profit. This allows American consumers to save money and
not have to pay high prices for goods and services ("List of Pros and Cons of Illegal
Immigration).
Illegal immigrants also helped the economy by renting and paying for land that is not
usually desired. Since immigrants are not often affluent they usually rent and pay to live in

communities that are economically depressed which helps the economy by providing more
income in a place that would generally be barren ("10 Critical Pros and Cons of Illegal
Immigration"). Immigrants also shop and use the goods and services provided in America which
also promotes a healthy economy. Immigrants must pay sale taxes on the goods and services they
provide which has an immediate positive economic impact on the economy ("10 Critical Pros
and Cons of Illegal Immigration").
Another reason why illegal immigrants should be allowed to stay in the United States is
because of their willingness to take all types of jobs. There are many jobs in America that the
average United State citizen would not want to perform such as housecleaning, yardwork, and
etc. This helps by making sure every good and service that is needed by an average American
citizen is fulfilled ("List of Pros and Cons of Illegal Immigration). For example many jobs
American citizens dont generally pursue are housekeeping and maid positions. These jobs
generally require a great amount of labor, patience, and dirty work for a low salary which often
causes American citizens to not want to take them ("List of Pros and Cons of Illegal
Immigration"). Illegal immigrants are desperate for jobs because they need money in order to
provide for their families so they take these jobs that most people will not. Furthermore it lowers
the cost of services of those jobs that are not usually taken by many people. Many opponents of
immigration
Many people refer to America as the melting pot of all culture because of its rich
culture and biodiversity. In most places in the United States you are surrounded by a variety of
cultures such as ethnic restaurants, diverse places of religious worship, and etc. These new
cultures are primarily brought in through immigrants ("List of Pros and Cons of Illegal
Immigration"). When immigrants come to the United States they assimilate to the American

culture while also spreading their culture into America. For example Mexican restaurants can be
found in almost every shopping center in Germantown and this is because Mexican immigrants
came to America and brought their culture into this country. They bring their religion, food,
clothing, and music into the United States which in turn creates a community and region rich in
culture and diversity ("List of Pros and Cons of Illegal Immigration").
Another reason why illegal immigrants should be allowed to stay in the United States is
because of the costly terms it will take to remove them from the country ("10 Critical Pros and
Cons of Illegal Immigration"). To deport all of the immigrants living illegally in the United
States back to their native countries will cost the United States billions of dollars. On average it
costs the United States about 11,000$ per person to deport them out of the country (Wolgin). The
United States is already in a great deal of debt and deporting these illegal immigrants will only
add to the debt and also, as I mentioned early, will cause the cost of goods and service to increase
heavily.
America, to the rest of the world, is viewed as the land of hope, opportunity, and
freedom. Many immigrants are attracted to America to escape the oppression that they face in
their country. Immigrants often face political, social, intellectual, and religious oppression in
their native countries which often cause their migration ("10 Critical Pros and Cons of Illegal
Immigration"). For example, majority of the illegal immigrants coming to the United States are
having their life threatens because of their beliefs in their native countries. Illegal immigration
should be allowed because it provides a safe refuge for families needing to escape the dangers of
their native lands ("10 Critical Pros and Cons of Illegal Immigration").

Many people who are opponents of letting illegal immigrants into the United States say
that they take away jobs from American citizens ("10 Critical Pros and Cons of Illegal
Immigration"). Illegal immigrants take jobs that Americans dont want and also perform these
jobs for cheaper salaries which lead to cheaper goods for Americans. Furthermore, opponents
argue that illegal immigrants will increase the threat of terrorism as well as increase crime rates.
Although, illegal immigration can lead to increase crime rates it usually is minor crimes such as
operating a motor vehicle without a license or insurance ("10 Critical Pros and Cons of Illegal
Immigration").
In many peoples eyes illegal immigration is something that has a negative impact on the
United States but in reality they provide more positive impact than negative. Illegal immigrants
have a very positive effect on the economy of the United States by lowering cost of goods and
taking undesirable jobs. Illegal immigrants also bring a plethora of cultural features that
enhances the United States biodiversity and lifestyle. Many opponents claim loss of jobs for
American citizens and crime rates increasing but this argument is easily refuted. Illegal
immigration is necessary component for the United States to be a strong, functioning company
therefore it should be allowed and tolerated in the United States.
