How Does Type One Diabetes Affect Dogs?
Type 1 Diabetes affect dogs by Make them very tired and thirsty

In the article Diabetes in Dogs. It states some great information saying that some of the
early symptoms that dogs face are Excessive Urination, Excessive Thirst, Hunger and weight
loss even with normal appetite. In the article Diabetes In Dogs it goes into more detail by
stating the later symptoms that affect dogs with type 1 diabetes which are anorexia or complete
loss of appetite, cethorgy and depression, vomiting, enlarged liver, cataracts, bladder or kidney
infection and obesity. Many of these dogs are affected by type 1 diabetes because of their
genetics with means that other of the dogs family members have this disease and it has been
past down to them. These are just a few ways that type 1 diabetes affect dogs.

In the Article Canine Diabetes: symptoms ,Diagnosis, treatment and diet it states that 80% of
the dogs that have type 1 diabetes are uncomplicated cases and they can be treated at home.
This disease affects most middle age dogs. It also states that most of the dogs suffer from
Cataracts. Cataracts are a clouding of the lens of the eye. It is the leading cause of blindness for
dogs. Most of these dogs experience this with in the first 16 months of having the diabetes. Also
said in the article that dogs with type 1 diabetes can suffer from complications, such as
infections and kidney problems which makes it hard for dogs to control their diabetes. As you
can tell this source has given us great information about what dogs go through when they are
battling type 1 diabetes.

In the article Preventing and treating canine diabetes. It states that a dogs age is the most often
development of diabetes in dogs. Most of these dogs develop diabetes when they were middle or
old age, and it also states that female dogs and neutered male dogs are more likely than intact male
to get diabetes. As said in the article diabetes can be a silent disease, a veterinarian may discover
your dogs diabetes through a routine blood work. This article also provides us with great
information about treatment plans, it says you can give your dog insulin to help maintain a normal
sugar level, they also say that a good way to help your dog with type 1 diabetes is to exercise them
and to make sure they are eating the right foods. This article Preventing and Treating canine
Diabetes has provided us with great great information of how dogs live with diabetes and how they
treat it.
