In response to your request to update the 2014 gun violence data, please review the following information and attached documents. Analysis was conducted and information released pursuant to Chapter 119 of the Florida State Statutes. Each crime category accounted for: Aggravated Assault - 75.8% Murder - 4.496 Robbery, Highway - 21.89% Aggravated Assault Murder Robbery, Highway ‘Source: TPD Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) data — Highlights from 2014 UCR violent crimes with firearms indicate the following: Based on the 2014 Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) data, there were 294 incidents with firearms for 2014. These incidents consisted of the following: aggravated assaults (217) which accounted for 73.8%, murder (13) which accounted for 4.4%, and street robbery (also known as highway robbery) (64) which accounted for 21.8%. Male suspects accounted for 91% of the total suspects. Of the 116 suspects, there were 91 Black males, 14 White males, eight (8) Black females, and three (3) White females. Male victims accounted for 64% of the total victims. Of the 401 victims, there were 174 Black males, 122 Black females, 74 White males, 16 White females, nine (9) Other males, and nine (9) Other females. For the purpose of this review, the Other category includes Black-Hispanic, Black-Middle Eastern, Oriental/Asian, White-Hispanic, and White-Middle Eastern. ‘There was not a significant gang affiliation for suspects or victims. For the suspects, approximately 10% of the incidents had a possible gang affiliation. For the victims, approximately 9% of the incidents had a possible gang affiliation. The most prevalent ages for suspects and victims were in the 18-24 age group. More specifically, suspects in the 18-24 age group accounted for 53% (61) of the suspect total; victims in the 18-24 age group accounted for 43% (171) of the victim total. The oldest suspect was 47 years of age and the oldest victim was 84 years of age. Hotspot maps for incident locations and addresses for suspects and victims are also attached. Of the aggregate total, 2011 (270) accounted for 24.4%, 2012 (301) accounted for 27.2%, 2013 (243) accounted for 21.9%, and 2014 (294) accounted for 26.5%. Male suspects accounted for 90% of the total suspects. Of the 347 suspects, there were 272 Black males, 33 White males, 28 Black females, six (6) White females, six (6) Other males, and two (2) Other females. Male victims accounted for 72% of the total victims. Of the 1,466 victims, there were 702 Black males, 310 Black females, 296 White males, 86 White females, 53 Other males, and 19 Other females. For the purpose of this review, the Other category includes American Indian, Black- Hispanic, Black-Middle Eastern, Oriental/Asian, White-Hispanic, and White-Middle Eastern. There was not a significant gang affiliation for suspects or victims. For the suspects, approximately 10% of the incidents had a possible gang affiliation. For the victims, approximately 7% of the incidents had a possible gang affiliation. The most prevalent ages for suspects and victims were in the 18-24 age group.
