Arena da Amaznia in Manaus is located on the former site of the Vivaldo stadium.

This former
stadium was almost dead. The stadium new was constructed to host FIFA 2014 World Cup
matches. The stadium was inaugurated on 9th March, 2014. It was scheduled to open it by 2013,
but delays occurred. The stadium will be used to host the local sides, namely, Nacional Futebol
Clube, Rio Negro, So Raimundo, Fast Clube, and Sul Amrica after FIFA 2014.
The stadium can accommodate more than 46000 people. The newly constructed stadium has
roofs of steel structure which is designed to serve as a large gutter that drains the tropical rain
water. The coating on these roofs reflects heat radiation. They thus produce a cooling effect. The
shades have also been constructed to benefit the spectators.
Four matches are to be played on Arena da Amazonia which will take place on 14 th June, 18th
June, 22nd June and 25th June, 2014. The shape of the stadium resembles a traditional indigenous
basket. This is due to the challenging climatic conditions in the region since, the Amazon rain
forests are nearby.
The stadium is located towards the northern sideof the city of Manaus. It is on the main road that
joins the city centre to the international airport. The airport is 7 kilometers away from the
stadium and Manaus city and , the Amazon river are around 5 kilometers away from it.
