The Louisville Writing Project presents

Write Camp
Creating Writing for the Scholastic Writing Awards Competition

June 20-24 & June 27-July 1, 2016


For both students AND teachers!
Join us for a week or two of summer writing fun!

Open to all 7-12 students as well as grades 7-12 teachers who want to learn more about

helping students write in the genres that are featured in the competition
Limited number of spaces available

Students will attend 9:00-1:30, where they will

Be immersed in the writing process


Work with published writers and teacher consultants
Explore writing in a range of genres: Poetry, Infographics, Graphic

Novels, Personal Essay/Memoir, Flash Fiction, Artists Statements


Publish a favorite piece in the camp anthology
Prepare a piece for national Scholastic Writing Competition

Teachers will attend 9:00-3:30, where they will

Hone their skills in writing instruction


Write in the same genres that students are exploring
Earn 30 hours of PD credit OR contract for graduate credit through the University of
Louisville (at regular tuition rates)

Student Cost Per-week: $100 by June 1; $150 after June 1


Teacher Cost Per-week: $100 by June 1; $150 after June 1
