cecum and ileum is grossly thickened
with obliteration of the lumen.

An abdominal computed tomographic scan


demonstrates diffuse pneumatosis intestinalis of the
ascending colon, thickening of the bowel wall, stranding
of the surrounding tissue planes, and ascites. This
patient's neutropenic enterocolitis resolved after 6 days
of conservative management.
