RACE DAY
Sports Drink
Endura Sports Nutrition is the official supplier of oncourse hydration for the Gold Coast Airport Marathon.
Lemon-lime Endura Rehydration Formula will be available
at aid stations and in the Nu-Pure Recovery Area. Endura
gels (citrus-flavoured) will also be supplied at the 30km
aid station in the full Gold Coast Airport Marathon.
Endura Rehydration Formula is designed to improve your
performance through the rapid replacement of fluid and
electrolytes. It is recommended that if you plan to use the lemon-lime Endura
Rehydration Formula on race day, you should train with this product prior to
the event. Visit endura.com.au
Medical
Ambulances will be located along the course and there will be a medical
centre in the Nu-Pure Recovery Area. For medical attention on course, please
report to an aid station or ask a race marshal for assistance. If unable to
complete the race, a vehicle following the final competitor will take participants
to the Race Precinct at the earliest convenience.
Queensland Ambulance Service
Queensland Ambulance Service has confirmed their policy on costs for
interstate and international participants who use the ambulance service at the
2012 Gold Coast Airport Marathon. There are two service distinctions:
If a local, interstate or international participant is transported to the Race
Precinct medical centre, there will be no charge.
If an interstate or international participant is transported offsite (to their
choice of private or public hospital) they will be charged by Queensland
Ambulance Service direct. Depending on the patients condition, they will
be transported to the most suitable tertiary hospital, which also includes
Brisbane hospitals and could include an air service. This service would be
free for Queensland residents. Participants are made aware of the charges
if their medical condition allows for the understanding of the transport
costs. Some states have reciprocal arrangements with Queensland as do
some private health funds. Participants are urged to check with their state
ambulance service or private health fund to see if they would be covered
for ambulance transport in Queensland.
Race Etiquette
In the interest of providing a safe and enjoyable event
experience for everyone, you should be mindful of race
etiquette:
The use of iPods and mp3 players are discouraged in
all races for the safety of all participants.
Always follow the directions of all race officials and
emergency service personnel.
Position yourself at the start line relative to your ability and your goal time
to allow a smooth start for all participants. Start zones are provided to aid
with your positioning.
Participants who are walking in the Queensland Health Challenge must
start from the rear of the field.
Do not stop or change directions suddenly.
Keep to the left of the course to allow people to pass on the right.
Race Policies
Timing
The Gold Coast Airport Marathon races will be timed at the start and finish line
by the ChronoTrack B-Tag timing system by Timing Sports, providing both gun
and net times. As part of the events live online service, split times will also be
provided at each 5km point and half-way in the full marathon.
Results
The Gold Coast Bulletins website goldcoast.com.au will be the official host of
the Gold Coast Airport Marathon results over race weekend. There will be live
results for all races and 5km split times in the full marathon enabling browsers
to follow the progress of runners. Terminals will be available at the Suncorp Bank
Information Booth at the Race Precinct event lawn for you to look up your result.
Gun Time: Time taken from when the starting gun is fired to
when you cross the finish line. Gun time is the official time
used for determining overall, gender and category placings.
Net Time: Time taken from when you cross the start line
to when you cross the finish line.
Roller blading, skating, cycling, rope skipping and nordic pole walking are
not permitted in any race.

Dreamworld Junior Dash races will receive a cap with their race number to
wear on race day.
RACE GUIDE
Each event of the Gold Coast Airport Marathon has an official cut off time in
which participants must complete their race. These cut-off times are enforced
to ensure slower participants do not impede other races and that roads reopen to the public in accordance with event permits.
To ensure participants starting from the back of the field are not
disadvantaged, a start line allowance has been applied to selected races. It is
important to note that the start line allowance is not an extension of the official
cut off time and it remains the participants responsibility to ensure they finish
with a net time within the official cut off time.
Official cut off times, start line allowances and selected locations for
enforcement are detailed below in race specific sections. Course officials
may issue warnings on-course and have the authority to remove participants
from the race at any of the cut-off locations when a participant is behind the
cut off time and their safety or event progress is compromised. The kilometre
pace required to finish within the cut-off time has been listed for each race. All
participants must finish within cut off times to avoid disqualification:

Spectators
If youre not running but want to cheer on the runners, there are some great
locations around the course to watch, cheer and support. The Broadwater
Parklands in Southport is the location to watch the start, the finish and all the
runners stream along Marine Parade. Here is a guide to some good spectating
locations around the course.
For the safe conduct of the Gold Coast Airport Marathon, several Gold Coast
roads will be closed over the weekend. These closures will affect roads close
to the beach and Broadwater in suburbs from Paradise Point in the north to
Burleigh Heads in the south. Police will be on duty during the event to direct
traffic, while road marshals will assist with traffic flow into and out of minor
roads. The safety of participants is of paramount importance and police and
road marshals will restrict vehicles crossing until it is deemed safe. If you
live in a suburb affected by road closures or need to access affected suburbs
during the event, please consider these travel tips:
On Course Entertainment
One of the many great features of the Gold Coast Airport Marathon is the
