STOP ALBANO CALLS ON SHERIFF CANDIDATES MICHAEL ALBANO &

THOMAS ASHE TO EXPLAIN THEIR BUSINESS RELATIONSHIP AND

LACK OF FINANCIAL DISCLOSURE
Hampden County, Mass. (June 1, 2016) StopAlbano.com recently obtained documents indicating a business
relationship between Sheriff candidates Michael J. Albano and Thomas M. Ashe through the formers political
consulting firm, Michael Albano & Associates.
According to the documents, on June 16, 2008, Albano, candidate for Hampden County sheriff, sent a letter to
then-School Committeeman Ashe, also running for Hampden County sheriff, welcoming him aboard Michael
Albano & Associates.
On Sept. 26, 2008, after receiving a request from Ashe to produce payroll information and proof of employment,
Albano sent a letter outlining two payroll checks that were issued to Ashe and one that was forthcoming.
Offering continued employment amidst the slow down in the economy, Albano said that he looked forward
to a successful working relationship with [Ashe] in the months ahead.
On Feb. 28, 2009, Ashe was advanced $1,000 by Michael Albano & Associates for anticipated work in the 2009
calendar year. On Dec. 1, 2009, Ashe was provided with a Form 1099 for the services rendered.
On September 25, 2008, an attorney working for Ashes ex-wife sent her an email saying that they were
awaiting paystubs relative to Ashes job with Albano. A little over a year later, another attorney sent a subpoena
to Albano requesting his testimony regarding Ashes employment at Michael Albano & Associates.
According to documents recently acquired by StopAlbano.com, Ashe received at least $1,250 from his work
with Michael Albano & Associates.
That income received by Ashe from Michael Albano & Associates was kept off his Statement of Financial
Interest form filed for the year 2008. The only income listed was his $8,500 School Committee salary and his
$61,000 salary as a Program Director with the Worcester County Sheriffs Department. Under Section 5, where
employment and other associations with businesses and non-governmental entities (including non-profit
organizations) would be listed, Ashe checked Not Applicable.
In the Sept. 25, 2008 email from Ashes ex-wifes attorney, it is implied the only income Ashe is receiving in
calendar year 2008 is $200 from his association with Albano, but it is not listed in his Statement of Financial
Interest.
StopAlbano.com is calling on Michael Albano and Thomas Ashe to disclose the nature of their business
relationship, the work that Ashe did for Albano, and why it was left off of financial disclosures.
