Plan of Work Year #2

Michigan Standard I- Visionary Leadership


Goal: continue to develop my leadership skills and knowledge of my school
improvement process.
Activity (Participation): I have and will continue to attend school improvement
committee meeting that are responsible for developing, implementing and evaluating
our schoolss improvement goal data to discuss the next two years school improvement
goals in ELA, Math and Science for functional and participational levels.
Timeline: This is a two year commitment. This is my second year in this committee.
Support needed: my mentor and I will have periodic, informal discussions.

Michigan Standard II- Cultural & Instructional Leadership


Goal1: Support positive culture of my school
Activity (Leadership): As an active member of the sunshine committee for 2 years, I
work with other staff members to come up with innovative ideas to increase the positive
culture of our school and our staff.
Timeline: This is a two year commitment. This is my second year on this committee.
Support needed: The chair of the committee and I always compare ideas and notes
and I learn from her experiences.
Goal 2: Improve communication with parents and our school
Activity ( Leadership): Last spring, I designed and published our first copy of the
monthly Bovenschen Bulletin. I organize the different section of the newsletter and ask
different staff members to include useful information to parents.

Timeline: This is a new project and Im hoping that other staff members will start taking
months over as they get more comfortable with it.
Support needed: As the creator of the Bovenschen Bulletin, I find myself always
seeking help from teachers and other staff for creative ideas or classrooms to be in the
spotlight for the month.

Michigan Standard III- Management of Organization, Operation,


and Resources
Goal 1: Understand the interview process
Activity (Observation, Participation): I will participate in the interview and hiring
process of paraprofessionals in our building.
Timeline: This is a second year activity. The interviews will take place at our school at
the beginning of November 2015.
Support needed: my mentor will conduct the interviews, we will have informal
discussions. I will get a chance to conduct interviews under the supervision on my
mentor.
Goal 2: Community Based Instruction Committee
Activity (Leadership): Work with other staff on the committee to create a schedule for
community based instruction for our students considering different students needs,
teacher schedule and lesson plans, community schedules and transportation.
Timeline: This is a one year commitment.
Support needed: Discussion with committee members, transportation office, front
office, teachers in charge and the different community venues.

Michigan Standard IV-Collaboration with Faculty, community


members, and Family.
Goal 1: Increase my connection with the community and sustain a positive school
relationship with families.
Activity: (Leadership): Designed and published our first copy of the monthly

community.
Activity: (Leadership): Reach out to local business to arrange for community based
instruction for my adult student to have authentic work experiences learning from the
real world experiences.
Timeline: This commitment is part of my job.
Support needed: My mentor and I will have periodic, informal discussions.

Michigan Standard V- Ethics, Integrity, Fairness, Practice


Goal 1: Gain more understanding of laws and social justice within my school.

Activity (Leadership) : This year, I will be the union representative for our school. I
will support staff members understand their rights as we work together with
management to serve student.
Timeline: This is a one year commitment.
Support needed: I will attend the union meeting and have periodic, informal
discussions with the union president.

Michigan Standard VI- Success of Every Student by


Understanding, Responding to, Advocating for Student Learning
Goal 1: Advocate for students future and their families.
Activity (Leadership): Work with our social worker to set up workshops such as
turning 18, workshops and guardianship. They are designed to inform students of
special needs and parents of the transitions that will happened when they become
adults.
Timeline: This is a one year commitment.
Support needed: I will be working with different local agencies and the social worker.

Michigan Standard VII- Field and Clinical Internship Experience


Complete 240 of field experience hours to observe, participate, and lead in regular
administrative responsibilities through the guidance of my mentor.
Timeline: The deadline is June 2016.
