What is Maintenance ?
Maintenance may be defined as preserving the

investments made on road & Infrastructure facilities in

providing safe transportation, serviceability and
consequently retaining their level of reliability during
their life time at a satisfactory level of service.

Necessity of Maintenance
A stitch in time saves Nine.
To provide comfort, convenience and safety.
The investment in roads, bridges and other

infrastructure is preserved.
The aesthetic and compatibility of the highway system
with the environment is preserved.
The necessary expenditure of resources is
accomplished with continuing emphasis on economy.
The longetivity is assured by adequate maintenance .
The strengthening, reconstruction or rehabilitation
cost is avoided or delayed.

Ordinary Maintenance.

Preventive Maintenance
Periodic Maintenance.

Special repair and Flood damage repair.

How To Maintain [ Funding ]

BOT Projects : No cost to Government / MPRDC. It will

borne by the concessionaire.

AR/PR & Special repair Works : Cost to be funded by :
- Government
- Highway Fund
- OMT System

Execution of Maintenance Activity

Agency for Periodical renewal / Special repair.

Concessionaire for BOT projects (Annuity & Toll +Annuity)

Monitoring and supervision of maintenance

In MPRDC we have 3-Tier system for maintenance

supervision.
- Independent Engineer
- MPRDC Field level officer
- MPRDC HQ level senior Most officials for
verification of proposal & executed
works by interchanging areas for
verification.
