What is the Scope of The Pharmacy Board Exam?

Held twice a year under the supervision of Professional Regulations


Commissions (PRC), as stipulated in Republic Act 8981, the Pharmacist Licensure
Examination or Pharmacy Board Examination shall consist of two (2) major
divisions: PHARMACY as Science and PHARMACY as Practice.
Pharmacy as Science has three (3) groups:
GROUP I (10%) - Public Health, Pharmaceutical Microbiology and Parasitology
GROUP II (20%) - Drug Delivery Systems, Physical Pharmacy, Manufacturing
Pharmacy, Quality Control I, and Quality Control II
GROUP III (20%) - Pharmaceutical Biochemistry, Pharmacognosy, Plant
Chemistry and Philippine Medicinal Plants
Pharmacy as Practice has three (3) groups:
GROUP IV (20%) - Pharmaceutical Calculations, Hospital Pharmacy, Clinical
Pharmacy, Dispensing and Medication Counseling
GROUP V (20%) - Biopharmaceutics and Pharmacokinetics, Pharmacology I,
Pharmacology II and Clinical Toxicology
GROUP VI (10%) - Pharmaceutical Jurisprudence and Ethics, Pharmaceutical
Marketing and Entrepreneurship and Pharmaceutical Administration and
Management.
The content and percentage weight of the subjects may be changed with the
approval of CHED with other associations of Pharmacy schools or universities.
On the Exam Date
The exam will be conducted in two (2) consecutive days. Designated room for
the exams will be posted. Examinees are required to be in their respective school
uniforms during the examination. There will be allotted short and lunch breaks
during the test. Just like any other regular exams, there are certain rules to keep
in mind during the exam:

Do not forget to bring the copy of Notice of Admission (NOA) filed to and
checked by PRC, the Official Receipt of payment for the exam and pencils/
black pens to be used in the exam.

NO ERASURES on the test papers.

NO LATES. LATE EXAMINEES WILL NOT BE ADMITTED. The examinees


should report before 6:30 in the morning.
What is the Passing Rate?
To pass the exam, the candidate must achieve a general weighted average of
seventy-five percent (75%) or over with no ratings of fifty percent (50%) in more
than two (2) subjects. The examinees will receive the rating of their examination
at his/her registered address using the registered mail envelope submitted upon
the application for the examination.
Are Re-examinations Allowed?
The candidate who passed only the theoretical part of the board exam can be
allowed to re-take the second part which is the practical exam, or vice- versa.
On the other hand, if the candidate fails to pass both parts of the exam for three
(3) consecutive attempts, he/she must undergo a pre-board review course
within the year preceding and must present a certification before given the
chance to take the fourth re-examination.
