Dubai/UAE Job Hunting Tips

March 13, 2014 at 10:19am

Here are some tips shared by our page member M Adil Mian which can help you if you plan to move
to UAE for job hunting. PLEASE remember ACCA Reloaded may or may not agree with some points
here .
Aslam o alakum .Here are some tips which are necessary before moving UAE, Dubai. ITS
TIME TO MOVE DUBAI AGAIN, because dubai won EXPO till 2020 and alot of offices, hotels etc are
opening and definitely they require human resource .
1) ATTEST your educational documents from three places (a) relevent body i.e hec
(forb.com,mba etc), (B) Foreign affair (c) UAE embassy in Pakistan .
2) Start applying atleast 1 month before entarnce in dubai ...because most of the jobs in
dubai are advertised almost 15-20 days before they are planning to hire as they want to collect
maximum CVs, if you start applying after entering dubai this means u wasted atleast 10-15 days out
of your 30-40 days visa
3) CV format is very necessary ...plz don't use PAKISTANI CV FORMAT i,e ur personal info
at top ( this is not recommended ). i'll post format also in further posts.
4) Most effective websites are www.dubizzle.com & www.jnjobs4u.com. There are some
others also, plz remember if any website requires money & provide job assurance this is fake....try to
ignore this type of websites
5) Mention your pasport number in cv and also mention any of ur friend/relative contact
number in CV when u start applying from Pakistan so employer can contact u ...i mean before
entering dubai....when u reach there use ur own number
6) Please don't expect high salary at the start. If u get 2000-3000 AED plz i higly recommend
start ur job because atleast u get a 2 year permanet visa from ur employer which cost 300,000 PKR.
7) Mention your visa status in CV i,e visit visa .
8) Try to move after qualifyng ACCA if you dont have any degree ( i.e b.com, mba ) because
Embassy only issue managerial visa if you have any degree or completed certification, otherwise you
get labour class visa which does not add value to ur cv. Even you worked there u dont have proof of
managerial visa ( i.e accountant,accountant general,auditor etc ) on your pasport......they check your
UAE experience by verifyng your pasport
9) Dont miss the oppourtunity if u get even at 1500 AED just think that you are doing
internship .but minimum salry is 2000-3000, theme is to gain UAE experince for atleast 1-2 year if
you survive there then mark my words DUBAI IS HEAVEN FOR PROFESSIONALS like ACCA ...you
can earn as much as u want but after experience

Here are some more tips for those who want to START CAREER IN UAE (DUBAI,ABU
DHABI, SHARJA) .These are only for VISIT/TOURIST visa. GETING JOB IN DUBAI is 200% BASED
ON LUCK......So having education/experience/skills not always mater , but what we can do as a
human is to work hard and follow the general rules .

I have seen alot of ICOM,B.COM,ACCA finalist earning up to 15000 AED and allot of
ACCA/CA/CIMA/M.COM they dont get job . This statement is not for appreciation, because without
qualification and experience there are very minor chances of job but there are chances/

Competition is extremely high .Professionals came there from all over world So better is to
qualify first. Dont move if you are not a qualified ACCA affiliate/member or if you dont have any
degree i.e. B.com/M.com because even if you get a job there, UAE Embassy does not issues you
managerial visa because managerial visa is issued on degree or professional certification so if your
ACCA is not complete even 1 paper remaining means they dont issue you managerial visa.....you
have to work on labor visa, so keep patience and qualify first.

Before applying for visa confirm whether it is extendable or not....so that u can get extension
in case your visa is expiring and you have a chance of job with in some days After getting visa
confirm what is the maximum limit of entering UAE from the issue date. Normally it is 40 days.

Keep 2000 AED with you at airport to show money that you are going for visit and you have
enough money to visit Dubai....this amount is just to show them at airport I have seen allot of my
friends not allowed to enter plane if they dont have this amount....but sometimes they dont ask.

If anyone at airport in Pakistan/Airport inquire you that why are you going to Dubai , then
NEVER EVER say them to find job....just reply that for enjoying, visting, entertainment etc.

JOB FINDING TACTICST: here are normally 3 ways of finding jobs 1) Personal reference
most effective way....which mostly lacks , here i want to emphasize one thing that if you dont have
reference in same field i.e. accounting, audit etc then dont consider that you have any reference
even your brother, father is working in Dubai.....reference means any one in same field.

2) Online applying for jobs , consisting of two categories (a) applying through recruting
websites i.e. www.dubizzle.com , www.jnjobs4u.com ,www.bayet.com , www.jnadds4u.com & allot
other. (b) applying through companies own websites by searching them on Google or if you know
their website, go on website and then career and then apply, if they have any job then apply , if they
dont at least send your cv.

3) Most hard and most effective way (other than reference) is applying by hand (dropping
your cv). I always quote " WE HAVE TO DO LABOUR FOR 30-40 DAYS THERE IN DUBAI FOR
FINDING JOB" this labor means get up at 9 am then pick your file contain cv's then go in
offices/companies and drop your cv, in different offices and companies . Say receptionist that i want
to meet HR Manager then meet HR manager if they allow and offer you. In case receptionist says we

dont have any job then just say him/her I want to drop my cv please keep it and consider me
whenever you have job.

( I found allot of companies, offices having job and they recruit you on the spot, or even after
5-10 days)in this way if you drop your cv by hand in 20-30 offices daily and if you have minimum visa
of 30 days this means you visited 600-900 offices in 30 days which is a big headache ( LABOUR
WORK ) but just imagine after visiting 600 offices dont you click a single office ??? INSHALLHA
definitely you click at least one job.

When you are searching for applying online or dropping cv there are some places which are
most effective go for JAFZA (Jabal Ali Free Zone) this area consisted up to 3000 companies, then
visit Dubai financial centre which is best for accounting, commerce professionals, then Sharja
industrial area phase 1-4.

Keep at least 50-70 printed CVs with you from Pakistan because in Dubai 1 print costs 1
AED ( 30 rs) . but beware what type of CV you want to print. I mean if job is for accountant and you
printed 100 cvs mentioning experience of auditor then this means you wasted money. So It depends
on your financial position. (This point is not recommended but my responsibility is to share all info).

While applying online Apply according to job requirement. If job requires M.com/ACCAwith 3
year experience then dont apply if you dont have. This is lame. If you apply they considered you as
a non professional and ignore your CV.

AFTER GETING JOB: Demand for offer letter immediately ,sign your offer letter then feel
relax. Demand for permanent visa immediately from your company to provide visa within a
week. There is a trend that companies recruit you and demand you to work for 15-20 days without
providing you work visa so that they can check your abilities and after 15-20 days they dont provide
you permanent visa and your visit is also finished and you are back to home, so beware of this kind
of situation just work for maximum of 1 week without permanent visa ( and keep in mind on
visit/tourist visa working is strictly not allowed by UAE government ).

There is a restriction to exit Dubai once if you are on visit and you get job there on permanent
work visa. Then you have to exit Dubai once i.e. come back Pakistan and then going again and
second option is not to exit and paying 1000 AED fee for no exit. I highly suggest that never come
back and pay fee because this is economical and minimum.

Calculation is as under If you return to Pakistan , in PKR ( 35000 return ticket + 10000
protector + 5000 English id card +miscellaneous expense + waste of time not on job due to being in
Pakistan ) this almost cost up to 70,000 rs so its better to pay 1000 AED ( 29000 rs ).

CV Format: Here Im going to share cv format mostly used in UAE.This can be changed but I
find most of professionals using this & it is not a benchmark. In Pakistan we use Personal
information at top . Follow this if u want
