Kendall's Homemade white bread (wheat)

1 ½ cups cold water

1-cup nonfat dry milk

1/2 cup butter ( or 1/4 cup each butter/shortening or all shortening) (FAT)

Starter -(1 package yeast dissolved in warm water + a pinch of sugar)

1-tablespoon table salt

1/4 - 1/2 cup honey/ molasses/ sugar or any combination

6 cups bread flour (substitute 2 cups of wheat flour for wheat bread)

1. Make a starter -Put yeast and a pinch of sugar in 1/4 cup lukewarm water)

2. Mix water and powdered milk

3. Add milk mixture to mixer add (melted fat) honey/sugar mixture mix
thoroughly

4. When milk mixture is cooled ( ~ 110 degrees f) add 2 cups flour

5. Add starter to mixing bowl

6. Add remaining flour gradually (reserving ~ 1/2 cup flour for hand
kneading)

7. Knead on a floured board (Dough should be soft and fairly sticky)

8. Let rise in a warm place in a covered bowl

9. When it has doubled, knock it down cut into loaves or rolls, put it in pans,
let rise again.

10. Bake at 375 for 25- 45 mins (rolls/ loaves) or until golden brown and
delicious
