government
done so far?
The Philippine Clean
Air Act of 1999
Republic Act No. 8749
(Philippine Clean Air Act of
1999), was enacted into law in
June 1999.
One of the primary objectives
of the law is to maintain a
quality of air that protects
human health and welfare.
Air Quality Monitoring Network
Composed of 10 automated stations
Measures real time concentrations of
particulate matter, sulfur dioxide,
nitrogen dioxide, nitrogen oxide, ozone,
carbon oxide, benzene, xylene, toluene,
methane, non-methane hydrocarbon
and total hydrocarbon.

Emissions testing
Emission test prior to motor vehicle registration
Private vehicles = PETCs authorized by the DOTC and
duly accredited by the DTI
Public utility vehicles = LTO’s Motor Vehicle Inspection
System (MVIS)
