This study is focused on teaching proper hand washing among gradeschool pupils in
Manila. Through a quantitative method, we will assess their knowledge regarding handwashing
based on questionnaires that will be given before and after the presentation. This study will make
use of pre test and post test to gather pertinent data with Audio Visual Presentation as an
instrument to complete the study. Audio Visual Presentation contains a step by step process in
proper handwashing which includes positive and negative framework in explaining the effects of
handwashing.
The study respondents include three sections of gradeschool students particularly those
students in the first grade in a three institutions in Metro Manila, one section per institution. A
respondent criterion was established. The criteria includes: early school age children between the
age group of 6-9 years old both male and female; those in first grade, f or those students who are
willing to participate and by securing a parental consent. A written consent will also be secured
from the institution where the study will be performed. A structured pre test and post test
questionnaires will be used adopted through the capacity appropriate in the level of
understanding of school age children according to their cognitive development as verified and
A simple random sampling will be used to select the section in first grade students per
institution in Manila.

behaviour expected with gradeschool students such as copying his or her friends answers, or
untruthful in answering the questionnaires. But the researchers will impose rules and will watch
out on how the students will participate in the study. In addition their attention span will be a
limitation, as their time to focus on an appropriate task is limited. Lastly time constraint is
considered a limitation of the study given only a few months to conduct a quantitative study.
