SCOPE AND LIMITATION

This study is focused on teaching proper hand washing among gradeschool pupils in

Manila. Through a quantitative method, we will assess their knowledge regarding handwashing

based on questionnaires that will be given before and after the presentation. This study will make

use of pre test and post test to gather pertinent data with Audio Visual Presentation as an

instrument to complete the study. Audio Visual Presentation contains a step by step process in

proper handwashing which includes positive and negative framework in explaining the effects of

handwashing.

The study respondents include three sections of gradeschool students particularly those

students in the first grade in a three institutions in Metro Manila, one section per institution. A

respondent criterion was established. The criteria includes: early school age children between the

age group of 6-9 years old both male and female; those in first grade, f or those students who are

willing to participate and by securing a parental consent. A written consent will also be secured

from the institution where the study will be performed. A structured pre test and post test

questionnaires will be used adopted through the capacity appropriate in the level of

understanding of school age children according to their cognitive development as verified and

validated through thorough theories and consultations was used.

A simple random sampling will be used to select the section in first grade students per

institution in Manila.

The study is focused on school age children particularly first grade students. At this point,

they are beginning to be concerned with their health and wellbeing and they become more
focused about their body. Teaching handwashing practice at this time is appropriate so that they

will be able to include this as habit in their lifestyle

Answers from the respondents may have possibility that it is unreliable due to the

behaviour expected with gradeschool students such as copying his or her friends answers, or

untruthful in answering the questionnaires. But the researchers will impose rules and will watch

out on how the students will participate in the study. In addition their attention span will be a

limitation, as their time to focus on an appropriate task is limited. Lastly time constraint is

considered a limitation of the study given only a few months to conduct a quantitative study.
