Introduction

It is a regulated dc power supply by using LM317 IC for a regulation. This circuit starts
from a 220 vrms as a circuit input and gives us 0-25 v dc as an output.

Calculation
Data:
Vrms=28.3 v
Sol:
b\c vrms = 0.707 X Vp in
so 28.3/0.707 = Vp in = 40.028 V
Vp out = Vp in – 1.4 = 40.028 – 1.4 = 38.628 V
Vdc = 0.318 X 2 X Vp = 0.318 X 2 X 38.628 =24.5679 V (out put)

Components Name and specification

1. 5 Diodes (1N4001)

2. 3 Capacitors (2.2 mF , 100 nF , 1UF)

3. 2 Resistors (1.8 Kohm , 220 ohm)

4. LED

5. Step down Transformer (14 + 14)V

6. IC1 (LM317)

7. Plug and wire

8. 220 Vrms input supply

9. Potentiometer (5K)

10. Connecting or Jumper wires

11. Breadboard

Circuit Description
As it mentioned above that circuit starts from 220 vrms input. A
transformer step down that voltage to 28 V, which enters into
the bridge rectifier and gives pulsating DC. So we put two
capacitors on load for filtration and one LED with resistor to
check the circuit. After that step we put an IC and potentiometer
to regulate from 0 – 25 dc Voltage. And one diode to its parallel
of avoids the defusing current. And at the last we put another
capacitor to receive more pure dc output.

Precautions

If you are connecting components on breadboard so please

check all the connections that they are connect properly. And the
most important thing in any electronic circuit is short circuit.

Conclusion
The project of power supply was amazing and learning full to us. A simple circuit who
convert 220 Vrms to Vdc.
Dedication
All dedication goes to our teachers who help us into the making of power supply.
Specially our theory teacher miss Amber who teaches us as her sons. We can’t complete
this project without the knowledge that we gain from our teachers.
