Prerequisites: MATH 1314 or equivalent

Course Description: This course will introduce the concepts of


optimization and decision analysis as they relate to managerial decision
making. These concepts will be developed via lectures and exercises using
software packages. Topics include: vectors and matrix algebra, solution of
linear equations, constrained optimization, linear programming, and decision
trees. Emphasis will be given to modeling and solving problems in Finance,
Marketing, Accounting, and Operations Management.

Class Participation: Class attendance is not required but students are


responsible for any and all material covered during class.

Homework: Homework problems will be assigned and graded. Homework


will not be accepted after the assignment due date. In-class quizzes are
considered homework. Homework will comprise 30% of your final grade.

Exams: There will be 3 in class exams, the lowest one of which will be
dropped. NO MAKE-UP EXAMS WILL BE SCHEDULED. Exams will
comprise 70% of your final grade.

Grading Policy: Grades will be assigned base in the following cut-off


points.

together and discuss topics related to this class, all material turned in for
credit (including, but not limited to, homework and exams) must be the
work-product of the student named with the turned in material. All
suspected violations of this principle will be referred to the appropriate
