to a transport
solution
With hundreds of buses, trains and ferries converging
on Woollahra each day you’d be forgiven for thinking
we’re in public transport heaven.
But a Village Voice snapshot this month has re-
vealed that while some residents are spoilt for choice,
others have been left stranded.
Buses jam our major roads but a lack of services
forces outlying residents into their cars for a lengthy
commute. With roads gridlocked and buses filled, our
waterways could be the key to solving our transport
woes. But a small, under-resourced fleet is struggling
to meet the demands of peak-hour commuters.
Meanwhile, cyclists and pedestrians jostle for
space and community transport stretches to meet a
surge in demand.
Experts say dedicated bus lanes would ease pres-
