First Women to fly solo across the Atlantic, Amelia Earhart!

Amelia Earhart is a very famous woman for flying solo across the Atlantic. She was very intelligent to
think of that! She might not have been the first women pilot to fly, but she was a really good one
and accomplished many things. Her death is a mystery, nobody knows how she died.

Amelia Earhart was born on July 24th 1897. She was a tomboy when she was a child. She had lots of
imagination, and she was very playful. She went to a school in 7 th grade called Ogontz School. Before
that, she was home schooled. She went to a great university called “Purdue University” and
graduated to become a pilot.

Earhart wanted to learn to be a pilot after her first plane ride in 1920. She was fascinated by flying in
the air so she did. That first plane ride was her biggest influence to fly. Even her trainer named “Paul
Mantz” had made her more interested in flying. She began learning with him in 1921. That’s how she
became a pilot, and a very famous woman with many accomplishments.

Earhart had many accomplishments. The biggest one was to be the first person to fly solo across the
Atlantic Ocean. She was also the first person to fly solo to Hawaii and California. She was the first
woman to win the distinguished flying award. She also won many other awards, but she says that
winning the D.F.A was the biggest. Her final accomplishment was trying to fly around the world,
unfortunately she never came back.

Earhart went missing on July the 2nd, 1937 when she was trying to accomplish her mission to fly
around the world. She was declared legally dead on January 5 th 1938. Nobody knows how she died,
many people believe she crashed.

Earhart is a brave, courageous and intelligent woman. She is truly a very famous woman to try and
accomplish many things. She was very confident about flying and people are still trying to find out
about her mysterious death!
