Abstract
Nowadays the decrease of air quality is caused by the
increasingly of earth temperature called global warming. It happens
because greenhouse gases concentration increase in the air, like methane
gas (CH4) and CO2. Municipal solid waste have been dumped over 8
years in landfill will be degraded and produced gases spread to the air.
The most common gases will be found are methane gas (CH4) and CO2.
Therefore, this research intent on knowing methane gas (CH4) and CO2
produced by landfill waste using variation of solid waste weight and pile
depth.
Based on research held for 40 days, the longest volume of
methane gas is produced from 15 kg solid waste weight and 50 cm solid
waste pile height, which is 2,25 cm3. The biggest volume of CO2 was
also produced by 15 kg solid waste weight and 50 cm solid waste pile
height, with 1,84 cm3 total volume of CO2.
