Councilman Jerry Maynard Kicks Off Re-Election Campaign to Packed Crowd

NASHVILLE – Over a hundred friends and supporters filled Swett's Restaurant last night to be with Councilman Jerry Maynard as he
launched his re-election campaign for Councilman At-Large.
Speaking to the crowd, Maynard listed some of the many accomplishments of the Metro Council with his leadership, including the
convention center project which has created more women and minority-owned small business jobs than any other Metro project. “What is
good for the minority community is good for the community abroad,” said Maynard, “This city is only as great as the weakest link in its
chain.”
Maynard also said that he was proud to receive the support of six of Nashville's finest women who have started the group Women for
Maynard because of Councilman Maynard's dedication to ensuring equality and opportunity for the women of Nashville. Co-chairs of
Women for Maynard include:

• Brenda Wynn, Director of Community Outreach for Congressman Jim Cooper

• Betty Nixon, former Councilwoman and Vanderbilt Assistant Vice Chancellor

• Councilwoman Kristine LaLonde, representing the 18th District

• Marylin Robinson, Executive Director of the Nashville Minority Business Center

• Sara Lee Woods, Owner of Bookman/Bookwoman in Hillsboro Village

• Sharon Hrt, Executive Director of Jefferson Street United Merchants Partnership, Inc.

“There is no stronger advocate for women and minority owned businesses on the Metro Council than Jerry Maynard,” said Co-chair of
Women for Maynard Marilyn Robinson. “Nashville's women appreciate his leadership on many key issues important to us. We'll need
that strong leadership on the council during the next four years to see further advancement for the women of Nashville.”

Women for Maynard will be holding a launch party for this group at 7am on April 26th at the Mad Platter in Germantown. Maynard also
announced plans for two more fundraisers in the coming month.
