I Give Myself Away

Like the moon, a vessel through which the sun illuminates all that is beneath th
e night sky
Like a canvas sitting at ease, rendering itself to the hands and purpose of the
Painter
Like the bush giving in to Your Spirit's flames of fire, exhibiting Your glory,
yet not being consumed;
I give myself away
To be the vessel through which You are glorified
To be the lips declaring the Truth
To be the Shepherd's staff drawing the stray sheep back to you
To be the arms embracing Your people of every nation, color, and dialect.
To be the missionary feeding the hungry and sheltering the homeless
To be the hands that bring healing to the sick in your name
To be the candle exalting Your flame
I give myself away
To be the thought behind Your covenant ring
To be the voice proclaiming Your majesty over all the earth
To be the eyes that acknowledge the outcasts, the loners, and the neglected
To be the feet that change nations, bringing forth Your word..,
To be the bended knees waging war against all plans of the enemy
To be the example of redemption in the midst of a drowning generation
Unto You, I pour the oil from my alabaster box in gratitude and praise
I eagerly give myself away until I'm free falling in Your presence, knowing You
will catch me
Lord, I surrender to the waves of mercy and grace in Your ocean of love
I place myself back in the hands of my Maker, that He may use me for the purpose
for which I was made.
Just like my Savior did; stepping down from the comfort of His throne, humbling
His beauty to the form of mere human, walking in meekness and on simple grounds
as opposed to the exaltation and extravagance that He of all beings deserved, ca
rrying the burden of my sickness, sin, and shame on His innocent and pure form,
receiving blows, ;ashes, and nails that were meant to be mine, and in love givin
g Himself away on a cross that I should have been on. Following the perfect exam
ple set by the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, Jesus Christ the Savior, I too g
ive myself away.
