A SPEECH BY THE PARENT

Dearly Beloved, You are welcome to this special and solemn moment in the history of my family to share, rejoice and celebrate with us of the wonderful gift the LORD GOD has given to us (the baby girl). We are here together for the DEDICATION AND NAMING ceremony of our new born baby. This practice is biblical and God honoured. Child dedication is a symbolic ceremony undertaken by Christian parents soon after the birth of a child. The rite/ceremony is a public declaration by us, the parents that we will train this child in the Christian faith and seek to instill that faith in her. The idea of dedicating a child to the Lord can certainly be found in the Bible. Hannah was a barren wife who promised to dedicate her child to God if He would give her a son (1 Samuel 1:11). Luke 2:21 begins the account of Mary and Joseph taking Jesus to the temple after eight days in order to dedicate Him to the Lord. Since Dedication is the act of consecrating an altar or temple to a divine being or to a sacred use and the scripture declares that our body is the spiritual temple where GOD dwells. Have you consecrated (set apart) that temple (your body) to the Lord by accepting Him as your personal Lord and Saviour? TODAY IS THE DAY OF SALVATION, TOMORROW MAY BE TOO LATE. This speech will seems incomplete without drawing your attention to the fact that a baby born into a family is a gift from God and that
Gods grace is truly shown In the gift of a child Reflecting His love and tenderness In the warmth of their smile

For children are blessings Sent from God above A precious gift heaven sent An expression of Gods love On the foundation of this love May this child truly grow Discovering the truths of God And to one day come to know That Jesus Christ is Lord of all And He has an awesome plan A destiny only we can fulfill As we take Him by the hand And walk with Him every day With Gods vision for their lives And godly passion to fulfill The commission of Jesus Christ

We, the parent of this child are making this commitment before the Lord today by submitting this child to God's hand and that we will raise this child up according to God's Word and God's ways. Thanks. MAY GOD BLESS YOU ALL IN JESUS NAME
