DOST-SEI Undergraduate S&T Scholarship Program

DOST, through the Science Education Institute, continues its efforts to create a qualified pool of manpower to operate the countrys industries by providing scholarships to deserving students who wish to pursue S&T courses in the tertiary level. Two scholarship slots per municipality are available for qualified graduating high school students. Following are the scholarship programs. The S&T Scholarship Program under Republic Act 7687 of 1994 awards scholarships in baccalaureate degrees and three-year technician courses. This is given to talented and deserving students from poor families. The program is currently supporting 670 scholars. On the other hand, the DOST-SEI Undergraduate Scholarship Program or Merit Scholarship that started in 1958 provides BS scholarships in priority S&T courses. To qualify for the scholarship programs, student must: 1. Belong to the upper five percent of the high school graduating class; 2. Be a resident of the municipality for the last four years; 3. Be in good health; 4. Be of good moral character; and 5. Pass the current S&T scholarship examination. Qualified applicants will be awarded tuition fee grants at accredited schools and universities, book and transportation allowances, and monthly stipends among others. Amounts are subject to change without prior notice. Application forms are available at the Provincial Science and Technology Center-Batangas, Provincial Engineering Office Compound, Kumintang, Ilaya, Batangas City and at DOST IV-A, Jamboree Road, Timugan, Los Baos, Laguna. These are distributed beginning AUGUST of each year. Examinations are held in JANUARY of the following year.
