OBTAINING THE PROMISE Hebrews 6 13 For when God made a promise to Abraham, because He could swear by no one greater,

He swore by Himself, 14 saying, "Surely blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply you." 15 And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise.

PROMISE OF GOD: a. b. Blessing Multiplication

KEY TO OBTAIN THE PROMISE: PATIENTLY ENDURE OR PATIENTLY WAIT --- to be of a long spirit, not to lose heart a) to persevere patiently and bravely in enduring misfortunes and troubles b) to be patient in bearing the offenses and injuries of others --- to be mild and slow in avenging --- to be longsuffering, slow to anger, slow to punish

WHATS THE ROLE OF PRAYER THEN? Prayer does not produce the promise. God is the One who produces the fulfillment of the promise. But what prayer does is that it produces in us the character that is needed to receive the promise. So, if you fail to pray, you fail to be changed, and if you fail to change, you do not qualify for the promises of God. But if you keep on praying, your character of patient endurance is formed, and if you are formed, then you get the character that perfectly fits the fulfillment of the promise.
