The 7 European Banquet of Student Traditions

Dear fellow students! Here comes the 7th edition of this magnificent European Banquet. You have undoubtedly noticed that its date has changed compared to the past years: indeed, it has become harder and harder to find a suitable banquets room in Strasbourg, available in November and admitting student participants. This is the reason why, this year, we have been looking for a banquet room in the surroundings of Strasbourg and we have found a really good looking one at Eckwersheim, which is about 15 km from Strasbourg. Unfortunately, this banquet room was only available in December: so this year, the European Banquet will take place exceptionally on Saturday, December 3rd. But be happy! Thanks to these particular circumstances, we are combining this European event with the one organized during the Christmas Market: you will the opportunity to taste our Christmas specialities and our own mulled wine ;) This year, we are organizing a Banquet which seems quite small regarding the number of participants but full of projects and surprises! We also advise you to book already this date for the 8 th edition of the European Banquet: Saturday, November 3rd 2012. Next year, we will have the great pleasure to welcome you at the Palais des Ftes, in Strasbourg!

th

Looking forward to meeting you all and spending so many great moments, Sophie, aka Jarjar, AFA Vice-Presidente

FEES: The European Banquet costs 45, including Saturday whole day and evening (cf. programme below). For participants coming on Friday evening, a party is organized in a bar nearby the Christmas Market: you will be able to visit this beautiful Market at night (What a beautiful memory of Strasbourg!) A piece of advice: bring change for your drinks and for your meal, as local food is for sale on the Market. PLACES : This year, only 180 applications will be accepted. So you have to hurry to send over your registration form! (How come? You haven't printed it yet!?) Do NOT simply make the money transfer and tell yourself "I'm sending the form later" Your application won't be complete untill we get the registration form. The first ones to apply will be the first participants, within the quotas for each participating country.(as a European Banquet, we want every invited country to get represented ;) ) There is no need to send more than 3 forms within one envelope, they won't get accepted. ACCOMODATION: This year, participants of the European Banquet will stay with local people in their own homes, not in a hotel room. As we are organizing the European Banquet at the same period that the Christmas Market of Strasbourg city, we haven't been able to find more than 5 beds in the same hotel. So, for you to sleep in a hotel room, you will have to look for a place and book it by yourself. There aren't any drawbacks sleeping with local people: On the contrary You will get the chance to spend more time with students from Strasbourg and to share more about other student traditions! There is also a possibility to sleep in the Banquet Room, on the stage to be more specific. In any case, bring a sleeping bag! Hosts' addresses will be given to each participant once applicants listing is edited on line, beginning of November. TRANSPORT Shuttles are organized to go the Banquet Room and come back from it. So, we ask you to stick to the Banquet timetable (see Banquet Schedule, next page), in order not to.disturb its progress. LUNCHTIME Last year, Italian participants brought some of their specialities for the Saturday lunch buffet. Moreover, during Faluchards congresses, we organize "aperitive of participants cities". Thus this year, we have decided to combine these two ideas to transform them into a "Countries Meal". We kindly ask you to bring back one speciality from your own region/country (to drink or to eat) in order to organize a huge European buffet!
