Brief Description of the Project Pig farming is one of the promising insdustries in the Philippines. Abou t 80% of domesticated pigs are raised in backyard piggeries. The loan applicant intends to engage in this field on a commercial-scale through the financing prog ram of OWWA and LBP for OFWs. The loan proponent shall situate the production ar ea at her parent's vacant lot outside the residential area of Mangcuram, Ilagan, measuring 750 square meter, lighting and waste disposal facilities for the smoo th management and operation of the furrowing and fattening business. Upon completion of the structure, she shall put the 50 piglets for furro wing and 100 piglets for fattening which was purchased from reputable stock bree ders. She shall closely oversee the raising of these pigs by providing the prope r nutrition and sanitation to keep them healthy and disease-free until they are disposed to buyers. 2. Brief Profile of the Enterprenuer Mrs. Aileen Melad Aquirre is a 23-year old former OFW, who has worked as Staff Nurse at Tripoli Medical Center,Tripoli Libya from November 2009 to June 2011. She is newly married to Ronnie, a Civil Engineer/Land Surveyor, who also w orks in Libya. She is a Midwifery Graduate on CY 2006 at Saint Ferdinand College in Ila gan, Isabela. Her parents and relatives are mostly farmers wherein many of them are backyard piggery raisers who have learned a lot from their several years of actual experience. 3. Projects Conntribution to the Economy the gainful atributes of the project proponent will bring income for the family and those employed. Society will likewise be benefiting from the project and will be contributing to the country's economy in such a way that additional goods and services are used and consumed in the business and its backward and f orward links enabling the money to flow and circulate. II. The Proposed Business 1.Introducion/Background a.Rationale Pig farming is a very promising industry in the Phillippines considering the fact that there is a high demand for both processed and fresh pork meat bei ng cooked in the homes and restaurants on ordinary and special family occasions. In effect, large scale and backyard pig production exist and grow. The fattened pigs are sold to the public, mainly to butchers, middlemen, and food processors while the piglets are sold to enterprising backyard pig fattening farmers all o ver the Barangays. This project proponent has conceptualized to engage in this project to s upply the felt-need of the desired profit from this endeavour. Pig farming is a capital intensive project. Thus, the proponent has inte nded to acquire the needed funding requirement from the OWWA-LBP loan progaram f or the former OFW's to establish and operate the business. b. Objectives The main objective of the project is to profitably gain in the productio n and supply of the market's demand or desire for right quality and quantity pig s and piglets. 2. Market Plan

a. Product The proponent's products are maninly hybrid pigs categorized into piglet s, breeding sows, and other sows. The breeding sows are the pig herd and the oth er sows are the pigs being fattened before slaughting. The pigs must be physically healthy and free of any treathening viruses such as Ebola Virus. Proper nutrition and sanitation shall be maintained so that the breeding sows will be very productive with quality piglets and that the fat tened sows will produce super fine meat. b. Market and Market Area Coverage The proponent shall sell the marketable hogs primarily to butchers in pu blic market talipapas and meat shops all over Ilagan, Roxas, Burgos, Quirino, Ma llig and Quezon in the supply of their daily pigs for butchering. She is also go ing to market her piglets to commercial pig fattening farm owners as well as bac kyard raisers found all over the Barangays mentioned. c. Demand Situation The people of Isabela are generally carnivous in nature. Hence, as the p opulation increases, the demand for pork simultaneously increases. The demand fo r piglets and pork meat increases as long as the nation's economy is steadily im proving and subsequently strehgthens the public's purchasing power. The demand f or pork is considerably high in 2 of the 5 target market-municipalities of the p roponent, namely Ilagan and Roxas for being economic growth centers with high an nual population growth rate.
