Section - A comprises of 10 questions of 1 mark each, Section - B comprises of 8 questions of
2 marks each, Section - C comprises of 10 questions of 3 marks each and Section - D comprises
of 6 questions of 4 marks each.

Question numbers 1 to 10 in Section - A are multiple choice questions where you are to select
one correct option out of the given four.

There is no overall choice. However, internal choice has been provided in 1 question of two

A jar contains 24 marbles, some are green and others are blue. If a marble is drawn at

marbles.

19.

An express train takes 1 hour less than a passenger train to travel 132 km between
stations A and B (without taking into consideration the time they stop at intermediate
stations). If the average speed of the express train is 11km/ hour more than that of the
passenger train, find the average speed of the two trains.
OR
If two pipes function simultaneously, a reservoir will be filled in twelve hours. First
pipe fills the reservoir 10 hours faster than the second pipe. How many hours will the
second pipe take to fill the reservoir ?

20.

If the sum of first fourteen terms, of an AP is 1050 and its first term is 10, find its 20th
term.

21.

If all the sides of a parallelogram touch a circle, show that the parallelogram is a rhombus.

22.

Construct a triangle ABC in which AB 55 cm, B5608 and the altitude CD 53 cm.

Solid spheres of diameter 6 cm are dropped into a cylindrical beaker containing some
water and are fully submerged. If the diameter of the beaker is 18 cm and the water
rises by 40 cm in the beaker, find the number of solid spheres dropped in the water.

50 circular plates, each of radius 7 cm and thickness 0.5 cm, are placed one above
another to form a solid right circular cylinder. Find the total surface area and the volume
of the cylinder so formed.

The angle of elevation of an aeroplane from a point on the ground is 458. After flying
for 15 seconds, the angle of elevation changes to 308. If the aeroplane is flying at a
constant height of 2500 m, find the average speed of the aeroplane.

Prove that the points (0, 0), (5, 5), (25, 5) are the vertices of a right angled triangle.

27.

Find the area of the triangle formed by joining mid points of the sides of the triangle
whose vertices are (0, 21), (2, 1), (0, 3). Find the ratio of this area to the area of the
given triangle.

Three unbiased coins are tossed. What is the probability of getting

A two digit number is such that product of its digits is 18. When 63 is subtracted from
the number the digits interchange their places. Find the number.

A motor boat whose speed is 18 km/ hour in still water takes 1 hour more to go 24 km
upstream than to return downstream to the same spot. Find the speed of the stream.

An iron pillar has some part in the form of a right circular cylinder and the remaining
in the form of a right circular cone. The radius of the base of each of the cone and the
cylinder is 8 cm. The cylindrical part is 240 cm high and conical part is 36 cm high.
Find the weight of the pillar if 1 cu cm of iron weighs 7.5 grams.

Fig. 9 depicts a racing track whose left and right ends are semi - circular. The distance
between the two inner parallel line segments is 60 m and they are each 106 m long. If
the track is 10 m wide, everywhere find the area of the track.

A person standing on the bank of a river observes that the angle of elevation of the top
of the tree standing on the opposite bank is 608. When he moves 30 m away from the
bank, he finds the angle of elevation to be 308. Find the height of the tree and the width
of the river.
OR
The angle of elevation of a cloud from a point 60 m above the lake is 308 and the angle
of depression of its reflection in the lake is 608. Find the height of the cloud above the
lake.
