When I was about five years old, I had an interest in presidents and the news.

Six years later, I still have an interest in the two. Over the Christmas break, I got some help from my cousin who works for the US government. I told him about my proposed topic, which was the presidential press coverage revolution. He told me that it was a perfect subject for me because of my interests in the media and politics. I then finalized it. I began my research at Albertsons Library on the Boise State campus. At the library, I found several books about the press and their relationship with the president. I also found several newspaper articles on their online databases. I also used my public library to find more books. At my public library, I found more books relating to my topic. A few weeks later, I sent an email to a former White House reporter who covered stories from Bush Sr. and Clinton but I have yet to receive any response from him. The definition of press is all the media and agencies that print, broadcast, or gather and transmit news, including newspapers, magazines, radio and television news bureaus, and wire services. Since most these things are based on technology, I decided to make a website because it is the smartest option to show multi-media. I entered into the NHD portal to get started. After that, I began building my website by adding tabs and photos. I then talked about how the press conferences, TV, and radio held significant factors on how the American people reacted to what is happening in the world and the relationship between it and the president. During the Great Depression, President Franklin Roosevelt gave speeches called the Fireside Chats to address issues. Millions of people tuned in on their radios to hear what he was saying and proposing. Years later, the television was invented. By the end of the 1950s, more than 45 million people in the US owned the TV. On September 26th, 1960, John Kennedy and

Richard Nixon squared off in the first televised debate in history. 5-10 years later, news anchors roamed the country of Vietnam showing and reporting the bloodshed in the torn country. This led to the political downfall of President Lyndon Johnson. From watching the costly sweat lines of Richard Nixon to the reaction of the Kennedy assassination, my topic relates to the theme because of the rise in press coverage of the president from reaction speeches to press conferences. Americans tuned in for their presidents take on the issues. Today, the press coverage is an essential for the American people and because of the rise of press conferences and speeches in the 20th century; it leaves an everlasting impact on how America thinks about their own leader.
