City of Mt. Vernon, MO Amaprop with the AmaRoc Base

NPDES permit changes required nutrient removal at the Citys WWTP to meet Nitrogen and Phosphorus discharge limits. A WWTP evaluation indicated that limits could be achieved by adding Anoxic and Anaerobic stages to the existing rotor oxidation ditch. The KSB Amaprop was chosen to provide the mixing of each ditch. During the anoxic and anaerobic stages, the energy intensive rotors (mechanical aerators) are turned off and the energy efficient mixers are turned on to maintain mixing velocity with zero dissolved oxygen. The AmaRoc base allowed for quick installation and provides superior support. System performance has been excellent with a TN <5 mg/l and 50% Bio-P uptake achieved. This innovative concept eliminated expensive concrete construction and down time while providing the city with a system that is easy to control and operate.
