GSCALE is a t ool t o calculat e t he w eight dist ribut ion of freight on t ruck axles. The t ruck is " loaded" ( virt ually) wit h cargo in soft ware, and placed on t he freight deck. The freight deck is t he box, t railer, or any locat ion on a t ruck where cargo is loaded ont o. This allows shipping professionals t o have a bet t er underst anding on how t he posit ion of cargo it em s, such as pallet s ( skids) , crat es, bulk t ot es, drum cont ainers, and even aut om obiles ( cars) and ot hers will affect t he weight dist ribut ed t o ax les. The first st eps in using GSCALE, is t o define ( creat e) one or m ore t rucks. For t his you w ill need a m easuring t ape, or any m et hod t o provide lengt hs for GSCALE t o calculat e t he t ruck w heelbase. The inform at ion is sav ed t o a file so you can re- use t he sam e t ruck anot her t im e. Truck Definit ions can be shared wit h ot her GSCALE users. Second, you will need t o define cargo invent ory, w it h t heir dim ensions and w eight s. You will need t o know t he weight of each t ruck, t hat is, t he em pt y w eight . This is not t he sam e as t he rat ing. The Em pt y Weight is required so t hat GSCALE can calculat e your final w eight on each axle, aft er adding freight and adj ust ing for fuel levels. N ot e I f t he cargo a cargo dim ension can not fit on t he freight deck, or can only fit sit t ing one way, t he cargo will not be flipped even if Flip is checked. N ot e I f t he Cargo is of t he t ype Au t o ( Car/ Pickup) , t he Flip opt ion w ill be disabled.

Abou t Adj u st in g Fu e l Le ve ls When a Truck, Rig, Tract or or Trailer is first defined ( creat ed) , you had t o ent er an Em pt y Weight value. You also had t o ent er t he am ount of fuel in t he vehicle, at t he t im e it was weighed. As a vehicle is used and re - used, t he fuel am ount will change. To get an accurat e pict ure of your vehicle's weight , we m ust t ake int o account all t he variables which can affect t he weight on ax les. A t ract or wit h 300 gallons of fuel, has over 2,000 lbs. of fuel. When t he vehicle was defined, y ou also had t o ent er a posit ion for t he fuel t ank it self. Som e t rucks have t he fuel t ank s close t o t he St eers, som e close t o t he Drive axle and som e are in t he m iddle. Wit h t he correct posit ion known, GSCALE can calculat e how m uch of t he fuel weight w ill go on t he St eers and how m uch w ill go on t he nex t ax le behind t he t ank . I f t he Truck had 50 gallons of fuel w hen w eighed, and now has a full t ank of fuel at 300 gallons, GSCALE w ill assert a 250 gallon of fuel increase, at 7.3 lbs/ gallon ( see Opt ions t o change t he fuel weight ) . GSCALE w ill calculat e t he affect ed w eight 1,825 lbs and dist ribut e t his weight , depending on t he posit ion of t he fuel t ank .
