are for students who are taking a course for the first time or students who are repeating a course due to excessive absences or denied credit. The regular Fort Bend ISD curriculum will be followed. All courses meet five (5) hours daily for the entire session. Reduced tuition fees do not aply to these courses.

Remedial Credit Courses (counselor's permission


required) are for students who are repeating a course. The regular Fort Bend ISD curriculum will be followed. All courses meet five (5) hours daily for the entire session. No student will be allowed to take the second semester of a course without having previously passed the first semester of the course. End of Course (EOC) Tests: Incoming 9th and 10th grade students enrolling in courses with an EOC component will be required to take the assessment at the next available administration. Credit for the course will not be awarded until the EOC score is received and included as 15% of the final course grade. Note: Incoming 2012-2013 9th grade students may only take Art I, Communication Applications (Speech), Health, or PE during the 2012 Summer School. Note: Incoming 2012-2013 8th grade students may only take Communication Applications (Speech) or Health during the 2012 Summer School.

**These are one semester courses and may be completed in one session for a .5 unit of credit. Students who failed during the regular term due to lack of attendance must repeat the course as an original credit course if offered.

Registration Process
Online Registration
Dates: April 2 thru June 7, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. Students may avoid summer school walk-in registration by selecting courses and paying online with a credit/debit card thru Fort Bend ISDs Family Access go to www.fortbendisd.com (Family Access is on the left side of the home page). Parents may contact the FBISD customer support center at 281-634-1300 for Family Access assistance. Cash or money order payments (no checks accepted) may be made between 8:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. at the Fort Bend ISD Administration Building (16431 Lexington Blvd., Sugar Land 77479).

Class Assignments - Classes are assigned by the summer school administrative team based on enrollment, need, and the availability of certified teachers. Courses that are cancelled due to insufficient enrollment or lack of certified teachers will result in a full refund or the opportunity for the student to select another available course. Grades - Progress reports will be given to students for Session I and Session II on the seventh day of each session. Final grades will be mailed to the student's home at the conclusion of each session. Attendance Policy - Efficient use of class time is essential to the students success. Students will be withdrawn without receiving credit for the course if they have more than two (2) absences during a session, regardless of the date of the third absence. A student is marked absent after missing the first 30 minutes of a class. Three tardies in a class will be counted as one (1) absence. Refunds will not be given to students who are withdrawn for excessive absences/tardiness. Dress Code - All students attending summer school in FBISD are required to follow the FBISD dress code and grooming policies. Students refusing to adhere to these policies after a second (2) warning will be withdrawn from summer school without receiving a grade for the session regardless of the date within the session on which the incident occurs. Refunds will not be given to students who are withdrawn for dress and grooming violations. Discipline Policy - All students will follow the FBISD Student Code of Conduct. Students refusing to adhere to the code of conduct who receive a second (2) discipline referral will be withdrawn from summer school without receiving a grade for the session regardless of the date within the session. In addition, physical and/or verbal confrontations on campus or on the school bus, which are deemed to cause a major disruption of the educational environment and/or impair the drivers operation of the school bus, will result in the student being immediately withdrawn from summer school. This action will be taken without receipt of a grade/credit for the session regardless of the date within the session on which the incident occurs. Refunds will not be given to students who are withdrawn for discipline reasons.

Walk-in Registration
Dates & Times for Session I and/or II: Dulles High School
Tuesday, June 12, 9:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, 3:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. (for all available classes) Before the registration begins, registration forms may be requested from the school counselor. Complete the forms, obtain the counselor's signature, and bring the completed forms to registration. Each session requires a separate registration form. REGISTRATION FOR ALL COURSES IS ON A FIRST COME FIRST SERVED BASIS AND WILL DEPEND ON THE AVAILABILITY OF QUALIFIED TEACHERS. THERE IS NO LATE REGISTRATION FOR THE SECONDARY SUMMER SCHOOL PROGRAM.

Payment of Tuition Fees at Registration


Tuition for Original Credit courses for FBISD students is $320 per course and includes transportation. Tuition for Remedial Credit courses for FBISD students is $260 per course and includes transportation. Tuition for Remedial Credit courses for FBISD students served by the Federal Free/Reduced Lunch Program during the 2011-2012 school year is $100 per course and includes transportation. Payment must be made in cash, money order, or by credit/debit card. There will be a charge per credit/debit card transaction of $2.50. Money orders should be made payable to: Fort Bend Independent School District. Checks will not be accepted. Full payment is required at the time of registration.

Transportation
Transportation will be provided for FBISD summer school students. Pickup and drop-off locations will be provided during registration at the summer school sites. Students will not be picked up or dropped off at individual home sites. Refund Policy - Students who are withdrawn from summer school or removed from the bus for disciplinary reasons or who are withdrawn because of excessive tardiness/ absences, will not receive any refund for fees paid on behalf of the student. Refunds will not be given once classes begin on the first day of each summer school session. All allowable requests for refunds must be made in writing to the summer school principal and approved by the principal. A processing fee of $25 will be deducted from each approved refund. Refunds will be given due to the cancellation of classes and will not be subject to a processing fee. Allow up to 4 weeks processing time.

ESY (Extended School Year) Special Education Program Available only for FBISD students.

Session II:

Monday - Thursday 7:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. No Registration Fee ESY services are defined as an individualized instructional program beyond the regular school year for students with disabilities. ESY Student Eligibility: Recommended by an ARD (Admission Review Dismissal) committee determined on an individual basis. For more information contact the Special Education Department head or teacher at your students campus, or call 281-634-1681 for more information. Students with Disabilities No otherwise qualified individual with a disability in the United States, as defined in Section 706(8) of this title, shall, solely by reason of her or his disability, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity receiving federal financial assistance...29 U.S.C. 794(a).

If you are unable to attend the Secondary Summer School program, there are other course options for credit recovery or enrichment. Please visit Texas Tech Universitys TTUISD (www.depts.ttu.edu/uc/k-12/) or the University of Texas at Austins UT Continuing Education Center at (www.utexas.edu/ce/). In addition, it is very important that you contact your High School Counselor for details regarding credit towards successful high school graduation before June 21.

English as a Second Language (ESL) Newcomers (Not for credit) Available only for FBISD students.
