Vision

Workers rights are respected leading to improved quality of life for workers and their
families

To build the individual and collective capacity of Calgarians to understand and achieve

Guiding Principles

The Calgary Workers’ Resource Centre (CWRC) believes that all Calgarians have the
right to access information and services for employment-related issues in a safe,
supportive and respectful manner.

The CWRC will work for economic justice for all, regardless of age, race, religion,
gender, class, sexual orientation, or ability.

The CWRC believes that both unionized and non-unionized workers need help with
work-related issues, including understanding their rights; support for attaining their
benefits and entitlements and assistance in navigating the various systems that deal with
employment-related issues.

The CWRC is committed to providing both individual support and support to develop
collective solutions.

The CWRC will work to ensure that policies that affect working Calgarians are just and
fair.

The CWRC will work from a capacity building and empowerment perspective.

The CWRC will strive to provide effective, confidential and innovative services in a
welcoming and supportive atmosphere.
The CWRC will strive to provide services that are culturally sensitive and that involve
staff who are culturally competent and committed to issues of equality and diversity.

The CWRC will provide services free of charge to anyone requiring their assistance.

Statement of Respect

The Calgary Workers' Resource Centre strives to create an environment that is respectful,
just, safe, and comfortable for all employees, clients, members, board and volunteers.

Discriminatory words or conduct which contribute to undermining the dignity and self-
esteem of an individual including but not limited to discrimination on the basis of age,
race, ethnicity, national origin, political or religious belief, gender, gender identity, sex,
sexual orientation, marital status, physical disability and mental disability shall not be
tolerated.
