INTRODUCTION: Aerobic Vehicle for hypersonic Aerospace TrAnpoRation (AVATAR)

It was first announced in may 1998 at the Aero India 98 exhibition held at Bangalore It is an unmanned relaunch vehicle (RLV). It is developed by DRDO and ISRO. It is a single stage reusable spaceplane capable of vertical take off and landing.

CONCEPT: The idea is to develop a hyperplane aircraft which can take off from conventional air fields. The hyperplane collects the air in atmosphere and store it in board for subsequent flight beyond the atmosphere.
