The role of Ambient Intelligence in the Social Integration of the Elderly

This paper describes how Ambient Intelligence (AmI) technologies may provide an ageing population with new opportunities for sociability. This is illustrated through a plausible scenario referred as Sunny Retirement. There is having six scenarios from sunny retirement. The first scenario is while choosing destination. System of this type can be implemented to provide precise location-related data on environmental characteristics of the earths surface. The second scenario is peers-around. It will increase social capital and greater networks of social ties. The next scenario is care-mates scenario. The applications of Ambient Intelligence technologies for remote monitoring deserve special attention as the well being of the user may be highly dependent in the technology applied. The fourth scenario is seniors e-club. The social relationship can be vital for their quality of life. AmI can support the social relationship although they are far each other. The next scenario is eFamily life. AmI enables enhanced nurturing and socialization of a virtual family. Family members can communicate online each other. The last scenario is contributing to community while remaining active. Applications like this aiming ar re-creating a work environment at home could contribute ti stimulate active ageing while smoothly supporting relaxing condition. My opinion the Ambient Intelligence (AmI) technologies is good for ageing population to help them more live longer and give them more years of health and independence.
