COURSE SYLLABUS Course Code: Elective 414 Course Title: Mythology and Folklore SY/Semester: SY 2011-2012 Faculty: Jaze M. Marco Department: English School: SAS Course Credit: 3 units Course Description: This course is a study of major myths and folklore of various cultures from around the world. It is designed to give students an exposure to different myths and folklore and their contributions to the literary heritage of a particular place. Course Objectives: 1. To read and interpret myths that left significant marks in the respective cultures they belong. 2. To formulate logical conclusions about life from the selected literary pieces read. 3. To appreciate similarities, differences in the beliefs, ideas, attitudes and values of people from the oral and written literary pieces taken. 4. To express relevant and sound opinions about literary pieces in relation to national and international problems and issues.
