Cloud Computing--- Interesting Observation about New Revolutionary Technology that u goin to use Tommorow

The biggest thing since the web?

Ya! I know perhaps its the name .Certainly it is more nebulous than mnemonic,if you'll pardon the poor pun. Www.trickeeg.blogspot.in

Ah.... Cloud Computing.. Whats that? Let me take a simple illustration. We Internet Geeks and data freaks, information,we require lots & lots of information. we uses now a days different services, gadgets, devices in our daily chores. E-Mails, USB pen drives,HDD & lots more...Now Imagine, whats if on one fine day, your system crashes! Your all data gone, hard earned data in other storage devices get corrupts! & u say WTF!.Similarly, Many small-big organizations require different platforms, various software to simply do their work 'smartly'. Is software shopping ,the next big department should be opend in all organizations across the globe? Here comes the new REVOLUTINARY technology, welcome to the world of cloud computing. You already been using some aspects of cloud like-a some of u guyz using GoogleDocs for storing your documents and accessing it anywhere ,anytime. Cloud Computing represents different way to architect and remotely manage computer resources. Next Time Yours friends ask about it tell them in one line ,

Fundamental Technologies Cloud offering You

Sofware as a Service(SaaS): ) falls under the cloud computing umbrella and is a primary component, but to align the two definitions is too narrow a view. SaaS is typically sold per user as pizza is per slice, but what is more important is that it is implemented and maintained by a provider who handles much of the complexity of running software on your behalf .Check in -> GoogleApps,Salesforce.com.

Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) While Internet ('cloud') connected grids are particularly useful (and a natural progression for virtualisation and SOA solutions being rolled out en-masse in enterprises today). Integrate a SaaS/Utility style billing system to a traditional grid and you've got Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS). These are more cost effective, reliable and user friendly than their disconnected counterparts. Amazon, EC2, gOGrid, AppNexus.

Platform as a Service (PaaS) (Google's AppEngine, Salesforce's force.com,): takes grid computing to the next level of wow computing by pushing the interface up to the platform . This is primarily interesting for developers and power users which allows them to focus on development without the overhead of hardware and operating system maintenance, network connectivity etc. while exposing technology like BigTable (and massive scalability) which might not otherwise be available to them. More importantly, it eliminates capital expenditure requirements.gr8 isnt it?

Utility Computing (Amazon S3) is more about a 'utility' (gas, water, electricity) pricing model, yet one can derive the benefits of cloud computing with a more traditional pricing model, or indeed without having to pay for it at all (consider Google's App Engine for example, where it's utility-style pricing only applies to the more demanding users).

Web 2.0 (Wikipedia, Facebook) which while a Biggie in itself, deals more with making the web 'read/write', shifting power towards the consumer and combining their collective energy. Its 'the 'glue' that holds cloud computing components together', are finally maturing and being adopted 'en-masse' thanks in no small part to simplification by way of protocols like REST The underlying theme is turning the 'reader' into a 'contributor'. Most of the players in cloud computing exhibit Web 2.0 attributes. Thats the power of this technology.

What is Driving Cloud Computing?

Easier for application vendors to reach new customers Lowest cost way of delivering applications to you. Ability to drive down data center operational costs . Www.trickeeg.blogspot.in

In one word: economics ->Over the long term , absent of other barriers, economics always win!

What are the Barriers to Cloud Computing?

Customer Perspective #1 Data Security Many customers dont wish to trust their data to the cloud Data must be locally retained for regulatory reasons #2 Latency The cloud can be many milliseconds away Not suitable for real-time applications #3 Application Availability Cannot switch from existing legacy applications Equivalent cloud applications do not exist Not all applications work on public clouds
