Intr oduction Pakistan is in dire need of intelligent, academically sound and knowledgeable le aders, and political representatives, who can take decisions on behalf of the pe ople, in light of their commendable qualities. As a result the providers of civi l services in the country are selected via an examination, now formally known as the Central Superior Services of Pakistan (CSS) which was made binding by the g overnment in the year 1973, under Article 240. The examination tests students on a diverse number of courses, which vary in their content and difficulty level. Due to the ever increasing scope and popularity of the CSS examination, students belonging to the provinces of Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan are tra velling to the bigger cities to prepare for the cut-throat examinations taking p lace in 2012. How to prepare for CSS exam 2012 in PakistanIn Pakistan, an increasing number of academies have opened up to prepare students f or the most difficult examination in the country. Most of these academies are si tuated in Lahore, Karachi, and Islamabad though a few have also recently situate d in Hyderabad and Sukkur. Below is a list of recognized academies, known to pro duce good results For students, who intend to prepare without the help of academ ies, studying at a library can be of benefit due to the availability of referenc e material, books, and national and international journals. Also, the chances of distraction are quite low in this case and the environment makes the library a sound place to study. A few weeks before the examination, students tend to study for at least 5 hours a day though some can average 8 hours per day. Group study can also be of benefit for friends who intend to take the examination together. Students must identify their weaknesses. Those from villages or cult sacks, ten d to be weak in English and a generous amount of time must be devoted to masteri ng their English abilities. Since the compulsory courses must be taken, students must master those compulsory courses which they have had trouble understand pre viously as well. Most students, from well establish

schools tend to lag at general knowledge and current affairs courses and must ga in tutorial help from teachers or books to remove such hindrances. Most students who have taken the exam in the past have recommended the Doggars ISSB Guide and Dogars AD or SI Guide. WHEN TO START PREPARING FOR CSS EXAMINATIONS 2012 It may b e a fair strategy to begin preparation for the compulsory courses first. Sometim es, the lesser the time available for preparation of the exam the better the cha nce of success, the reason being the to-the-point study, accessing only the rele vant topics and syllabus thus concentrating on the most important and likely que stions when the time frame is short and limited. Also, as previously mentioned, the exam can be given thrice by an individual. Hence, if he/she feels that the t ime frame is short for preparation, they can always give it again, the next time more equipped with the necessary details of the exam, its format and proper all ocation of time.
