COURSE OBJECTIVES This course provides a critical analysis of generally accepted accounting principles, concepts and theory underlying the preparation of financial statements. Emphasis will be placed on current theory and practice. Primary concern is with asset measurement and income determination. TEACHING APPROACH: Class lectures and power point presentations, group case and project will be given TEXT BOOKS: Core text: Weygandt, Jerry J., Kieso, Donald E., Warfield, Terry D. Intermediate Accounting . JohnWiley & Sons, Inc. (Edition will be announced in the class) Reference Text: Intermediate Accounting by Thomas Dyckman, Charles Davis and Roland Dukes. 5th edition.

CLASS ATTENDANCE
Student attendance is absolutely mandatory as exams will be based on the materials covered in the class. Attendance will be taken in each lecture session which will contribute to the 5% of your total grade. Please turn off your cell phone before the class starts. You are strongly encouraged to actively participate in class discussion.
