COURSE OBJECTIVES This course provides a critical analysis of generally accepted accounting principles, concepts and theory underlying the preparation of financial statements. Emphasis will be placed on current theory and practice. Primary concern is with asset measurement and income determination. TEACHING APPROACH: Class lectures and power point presentations, group case and project will be given TEXT BOOKS: Core text: Weygandt, Jerry J., Kieso, Donald E., Warfield, Terry D. Intermediate Accounting . JohnWiley & Sons, Inc. (Edition will be announced in the class) Reference Text: Intermediate Accounting by Thomas Dyckman, Charles Davis and Roland Dukes. 5th edition.

Final Exam EXAMS AND GRADING POLICY


Exams will contain short theoretical questions and problems. The date for each examination will be announced one week before the exam. There is absolutely NO provision for make-up quizzes. Makeup exams can be arranged only in exceptional circumstances with adequate proof. NSU rules will be applied regarding using unfair and unethical means (including cheating, plagiarism) in the exams, quizzes and assignments. Cell phones must be switched off during exams. CLASS ATTENDANCE
Student attendance is absolutely mandatory as exams will be based on the materials covered in the class.
