Thanks for your purchase of the DT TALK Premium Cheat Sheet. You have now gone into the draw to win a 3D 46 SONY Full HD LED LCD TV thanks to Harvey Norman QV Melbourne City. This will be drawn on Monday 2nd April by Mark and the crew at markamedia (marka.com.au) and announced on DT TALK that evening.
LOCKOUT WEEK
As outlined in the FIRST LOCKOUT EDITION of the Cheat Sheet, we have two partial lockouts before the full lockout on Friday night. Heres our guide to navigating the week: PARTIAL LOCKOUT 1 As you will know, your GWS and SWANS players are now locked into position (place on ground or your bench) and if they are your CAPTAIN, VICE CAPTAIN or EMERGENCY, then this cant be changed. You have unlimited trades for all other players. PARTIAL LOCKOUT 2 On Thursday night, the same goes for BLUES and TIGERS players at 7:45pm AEDT. The teams will be announced on Wednesday evening for the clash, but stay tuned to our website in the lead up to the bounce with final team sheets - late changes and who is wearing the GREEN SUBSTITUTE VEST. If youre sold on that player, make sure he is on your bench, otherwise... trade him out - personally, if a player is starting as a substitute, it will be very hard for us to keep them in. Green isnt good! FULL LOCKOUT As soon as it ticks over to 7:50pm AEDT AFL Dream Team goes into full lockout. No more trades, no more changes. At this point everyone should be in position and you need to have your Captain and Emergencies locked (pending your loophole selections). Make sure you have your ear to the ground for late news (including substitutes) for MAGPIES and HAWKS players. BYE STRATEGY
A lot of people have tried to over complicate the bye strategy, but realistically in order to pick a team that is going to be competitive on a week to week basis, you cannot let the fear of a bye ruin your team structure. This is not to say they shouldnt be taken into consideration, but our simple rules are: (1) Aim to have only two keepers in each position sharing their bye, as cash cows have usually maxed out by then. (2) Trading strategy leading up to the byes should be kept in mind for balance. (3) Use trades in bye weeks wisely in order to not only cover donuts, but strengthen your team for the run home - using normal downgrading and upgrading. (4) Sideways trades arent a no-no, but obviously look to trade in someone who has completed their bye.

ROYS TEAM
TWITTER: @RoyDT roy@dreamteamtalk.com After originally starting with a weak backline, my concerns about the job security surrounding the cheap defenders got the better of me which caused a shift in focus toward players that are highly likely selections on a week to week basis in regard be being reasonably durable and best 22. Although Broughton has traditionally caused me massive headaches, I have been impressed with his pre season to date, along with the fact Ross Lyons Saints defenders have been traditionally good scorers. At the moment I am not happy with Morris in my team and will seek trades in order to have the money to make him Ellis. After spending a lot of the pre season going with 5 premiums in the midfield, I decided to chase some of the quality rookies as I wasnt will willing to miss out on all their money making potential. My first bad call of the year was evident in game 1 by backing the underdone Shiel to outscore the experienced McDonald, but hey, its only early. At this stage I have picked Pendlebury over Swan, basically due to the fact the he is slightly cheaper, younger and Pie captain Nick Maxwell has done the same which gives me added confidence. Due to the value in the ruck department I have gone with three ruck rookies, mainly because I like their job security. For a lot of the pre season Cox held my number one spot in the
ruck but the money I needed to strengthen my weak backline came from his downgrade to the player I thought was the second best option this year in Mumford. Hopefully Cox will come in as my number one during the year. My forward line would be quite common with no real surprise selections apart from Mitch Robinson who is only owned by 4% of the competition. I, like may have loaded up with a large number of DPP options.
Mitch Golby: There are many mid priced defenders putting their hand up in defence this year and the one I am currently going with is Golby who has had a magnificent pre season where he has demonstrated outstanding ball winning ability and run off half back. It looks like he will be given early games and every chance to prove himself. In his last game of the NAB he scored an impressive 94 from 21 touches to seal the deal.
CALVINS TEAM
TWITTER: @CalvinDT calvin@dreamteamtalk.com As you can see... I have loaded up with a massive gun, slap ya in the face midfield. My theory here is simple. In 2010, our mate Chopper did the same in after 3 rounds he was sitting in the top 5 in the competition. In 2011, Roy loaded up his midfield and sat pretty all year. So this year, its my turn. Usually I stack my backline but after a disastrous 2011 Ive done the opposite and will back my rookies to score 50-60 till I upgrade them as the year progresses. So far this moved has paid off with Bugg scoring impressively. Lucky duck V8! My biggest problem for these rooks is their job security. A ride Im willing to take at this stage. I have selected a few players purely based on their byes. For example, I have Mumford to switch to Cox after he has his bye and Sam Mitchell has the last bye (13) and can easily be straight swapped to someone like Pendles after his Rd. 12 bye. So youve noticed I have Dane Swan. Of course I do and Im hoping its the right call. He usually has a poor pre season and smokes it when the real stuff starts. He averaged 130 in the first 5 games last year and its not something I want to miss out on. Eat a banana, fly the flag!
Dane Swan: I cant believe these other muppets are not starting with Dane. In 2011, Swan had pre-season games of 125, 94, 77 and 77... Then he went 137, 162, 116 and 132 when the season started. This year will be similar (hopefully) and hes a guy I dont want to be playing against!
