A Reaction Paper: Sure ka na ba?

Introduction: Election is a process usually exercised by a particular group of people. This process gives the people the power to choose a worthy leader who will ultimately guide the group to meet its purpose and objective. It is a formal decision making in which every vote counts.

Summary: The play performed by the Alternative Learning for Theatre Arts(ALTA),'Sure Ka na ba?', is a story of a locality having its election with the two running candidates, Noynoy Agapao and Manay Villena. Agapao is a new politician while Villena is a re-electionist. The story showed different types of people and their perspective with the election. The climax of the story is the search for one missing ballot which will decide the fate and future of the whole nation. The case was resolved once the teacher remembered that she was the one who was not able to vote during the election day. She chose Noynoy to be the new leader of their place.

Reaction: The story showed the real angle of the election that is happening in the Philippines. There are these people who are not taking seriously the election, while there are people who are concerned for the future of their place. Filipinos have different views while relying on popularity, curiousness, possession, or simply core values. The story also inculcates the main purpose of election. It conjures the importance of a leader and role that he is going to play for everybody. The title Sure ka na ba overviews the decision making of everyone. They were given the power to vote and they must have used this power to choose whom they think is deserving.

The importance of a single vote is greatly emphasized in the story. This vote shall make a difference. It could be for the economy, for convenience, prosperity, education. or as simple as for a life of a simple citizen. The story encourages me as i perceive it, to place my vote where it has to be. I must vote the person whom I will entrust myself, my family, my friends, my education, my future, or totally my life. I must believe that my vote shall make a difference. A very big difference to the world. It is not as big as the buildings that leaders may build, nor as big as a progressed city. Nevertheless my vote shall make a difference for satisfaction of the people that every politician promised as they approach to people's hearts during their campaign. That leader must satisfy everyone. Not because its his duty to do so, but because he was chosen, and because he deserves everyone's trust.
