ABOUT THE AUTHOR
In pursuing World Harmony Renaissance we must be independent and truly

international and not relying on any one country. Even though we are
Americans and we are launching the first World Harmony Day from San
Francisco. When we do our first World Harmony Day Cultural Festival right, it
does not have to be big; we will be in an enviable position to pick and choose
sponsors. There will be no lack of Corporate, foundation and individual funding
according to Spencer. I agree whole heartedly.
Harmony belongs to the world. It is the order of nature. It is the most universal
common value that can divert our creative energy now mired in national conflicts,
religious strife, unilateralism and terrorism towards the next phase of human
accomplishment. Most of all World Harmony Renaissance must begin with
World Harmony Consensus.
Life is full of meaningful campaigns for some of us. During the 60's, as a fluid
mechanics major, I was swept up in "Catching up with Russia" rocket and
satellite research. In the 70's, during the declining aerospace years, I did key
research in establishing large scale fire safety computer standardized building
material tests, computer smoke propagation simulation to establish smoke
detector codes and standards. During the 80's I co-founded Aerophyics
Company and Finance and Technology Associates and was active in
International energy conservation technology transfer. My publication list in the
back of this book reflects U.S. national waves of priority like a road map that we
all traveled one time or the other.
Of late I am more cultural than scientific. My recent campaigns include peace

painting exhibitions, distribution of top quality music CD's and publishing of
Harmony Renaissance essays worldwide. That is why some of you get little gifts
of Song of Shangri-La album and Ting Shao Kwong posters from me. My World
Harmony Renaissance lectures appear locally as well as worldwide through
Xinhua News and World Affairs Journal announcements. I have come to know
famous artists, calligraphers, distinguished Western authors and record
companies. All my past endeavors and undertakings will add value to our World
Harmony Day Cultural Festival. I will not disappoint you. I have a dream; the
dream is World Harmony Renaissance.

My views on World Harmony Renaissance have broadened after the launch
of World Harmony Organization on Jan. 20, 2007 and the significant events
that lead to the announcement of World Harmony Day Cultural Festival on
March 7, 2007. I now believe America; the young dynamic country of
advocacy is where resources can be deployed to launch World Harmony
Renaissance. Please see Section (III) (D) “IT IS TIME FOR AMERICA
TO ADVOCATE WORLD HARMONY RENAISSANCE”.

FOREWORD
I received many comments and questions since the publication of my papers

by Xinhua News titled “Chinese Harmony and American Democracy in 21st
Century” and “Chinese Harmony Renaissance; Can World Ignore It?” Nov.
1 and 2, 2006 and my book titled “China’s Harmony Renaissance: What the
World Must Know”, published on Dec. 1, 2006. Most of the essays were
announcement of new concepts on Harmony Renaissance and my response
to comments from the public. Important World Harmony Organization
announcements include call for World Harmony Day, World Harmony
Renaissance Centers, World Harmony Ambassadors, World Harmony
Volunteers and World Harmony Advocacy to pursuit World Harmony
Renaissance. Occasional comments from my conversations with Noam
Chomsky and James Fallows are also included. Most of all, World
Harmony Renaissance begins with World Harmony Consensus.
Many eventful developments have broadened my outlook on World

Harmony and World Harmony Renaissance in the United States. That is
why I come to firmly believe that America is the young dynamic country for
Harmony Advocacy. These events include the important meeting launching
World Harmony Organization (WHO) in San Francisco on Jan 20, 2007
(See worldwide announcement by Xinhua News on Jan 20, 2007, in Section
WHO Launched in San Francisco and the at end of this book). On Feb. 9,
2007 I presented my previously mentioned harmony book at the NABE 2007
Conference at San Jose Convention Center. Harmony World and Harmony
Renaissance were introduced, for the first time, to the U.S. main stream in a
public forum. The theme for the NABE Conference was “One Nation:
Many languages, Many Cultures in a Changing World”. The conclusion of
my presentation was that pursuing Harmony Consultation is
paramount towards reaching Harmony Consensus. World Harmony
Renaissance will release our concerted creative energy, by bringing us to a
higher level of human common value, to solve world conflicts, disparities,
unilateralism, extremism, terrorism and ecology concerns.
The momentum of all these ground breaking events has led to a great deal of
innovative thinking on Harmony Renaissance. One of the highlight was the
formation of the Commission of World Harmony Ambassadors and World
Harmony Volunteer Corps under World Harmony Organization. All these

events and resulting discussions were painstakingly recorded. With the
formation of the landmark WHO Commission it seems right to publish all
the records into this new book “World Harmony Renaissance: Promise for a
Better World.” The book climaxes in the preparation for the first of its
kind World Harmony Day Cultural Festival in San Francisco, California for
third Sunday of September, 2007.
Names of participating individuals are withheld through out this documented

book record to protect their well known status in the San Francisco Bay
Area. With few exceptions only the first letter of their last name is used to
keep records straight. My heartfelt appreciation goes to them. Without
them this book would not be possible. Special thanks also go to my wife,
Prof. Noam Chomsky and James Fallows for their support and
understanding. All material presented in this book are documented in email
record. Each email was communicated to the respective individual
concerned.

In my last email I gave you Chinese material for your use in your press release
for the De. 9 World Harmony CACF meeting.. Feel free to edit for your
use. Here is the outline of my talk in English but I will speak in Chinese with
some English notes.
(I) The three main world cultural movements from prospective of harmony:
Religion, Democracy and Harmony.
(II) Laotze and Confucius teachings on harmony.
(III) From Scientific development concept to harmony society and harmony world.
(IV) China's harmony renaissance. Only by rediscovering ancient cultural roots

can China rediscover itself. China regains its moral high ground.
(V) World Harmony Organization, World Harmony Institute and my book.

Dear Dr. Lee and Mr. S,

I like your opinion about the timely nature of arranging the World Harmony
Meeting. It shows you are fully in touch of the current international events. I
also like it because it is short and appealing to the intended Chinese audience. It
will be reflected in my talk. I also support you fully in attracting more people to
join our modest efforts. May I suggest using my book title “China’s Harmony
Renaissance: What the World Must know” as theme for the Chinese Meeting you
are planning?
My innovativeness that led to the formation of World Harmony Organization to

bring Harmony Renaissance to the world begins with:
(I) Harmony is world’s main cultural movement that is all embracing and
envelops religion and democracy movements. The world will never reach the
ancient Chinese concept of great unity (Da Tong) but it will reach a state of
dynamic unity in diversity through harmony.
(II) In the 21st century to solve the current world dilemma we need to go beyond
religion and democracy.
(III) China's harmony renaissance is rediscovering China's ancient natural

science as well as social science roots. .
(IV) China's harmony movement is the consequence of cultural revolution and

the current rapid reform and modernization. Both are historical events of major
world proportions. The Chinese Communist Party recognized it. They must
deal with the crisis.
(V) Simply put, currently China is strong in world diplomacy and America is
not. America society is stable but Chinese society must address the unequal
rapid economic developments. America foreign relation is at its lowest point in
fifty years of my stay here. Socially U.S. is stable because of democracy and
law and order.
(VI) By necessity the oldest wisdom and the youngest dynamic and powerful
nations of the world will have to build harmony together. This is the unique
opportunity for us true bicultural people to rise to the occasion. We are in a
unique position to work for harmony consensus through harmony consultation.
These are only some of my breakthrough ideas. Not every body will necessary
see it my way. We will continue to be pioneers in our joint innovativeness in
World Harmony Organization. Bay area and California is a great place to launch
the movement. Time is of the essence. You can count on mass following. The
work ahead of us is unlimited. Potentially WHO can become one of the biggest
world think tank in harmony importance. Together we can start it and attract

world support. Harmony World Organization properly managed will earn the
world's respect.
Do not let my rambling deter you. I promise my Chinese invitation draft will be
short and sweet and you will get it today. I wonder, to me personally, the
use of English is always more assertive and Chinese is more reserved.

I strongly support you to motivate the awareness of Chinese heritage of harmony
culture. Up to this point, I am enthusiastically supporting Hu-Wen's domestic and
foreign policy. Hu's initiative on harmony is a very intelligent and
practical solution to the conflicts everywhere today. I like to support this
campaign and be a member of it. I am proud to be a Chinese descendent.
At the same time, I am also proud to be an American citizen. Whiling admiring

Chinese culture of harmony I am also admiring western culture of democracy
which rooted in Greece and spread out everywhere including China. The
problem of American foreign policy today should not be blamed on democracy
which I think Chinese still need to continue to adopt. My point is that harmony
and democracy should go hand in hand and be supplementary to each other.
Promoting Chinese harmony should not attack Western democracy. What
makes us Chinese here in California different than other Chinese elsewhere is
that we should integrate the excellence of the two cultures.
I am busy with my business operation, I just provide this short response. I have
to make a trip to China, I hope I will leave on the 10th so I can attend your
presentation on the 9th.

Thank you for sharing with us your view point and support. Harmony belongs to
the world. We welcome opinions on world harmony from all serious
parties. We invite dialogues. World Harmony Organization is non political and
non religious. We are forming various Commissions as shown on our
organization chart. We are starting with Sino American Affairs, Sino African,

U.S. Iranian, U.S. Korean and Sino Korean Commissions as well as Ecology and
Resources Commissions. Harmony ideal is all embracing, we welcome your
participation.
Harmony is unity in diversity. It accepts a multicultural and diverse political

systems world. As an ideal it includes democracy as a system to reach harmony
between its government and citizens. It goes beyond religion and democracy in
the 21st century to resolve conflicts. When there is world harmony there will be
relative peace. When there is peace there may not be harmony.
China's rise is not just peaceful rise. China's think tanks already dropped this
slogan. The right direction for the world is mutual development and harmony
development. America is a great country. It is a young country full of vitality.
Some of our leaders just need a strong dose of harmony. We are promoting
democracy too aggressively, even by war. Democracy is well known but it must
grow and be nurtured in each country's own soil instead of being
transplanted. America has interfered in China's domestic policy for more than 50
years. By rediscovering its own cultural roots China can finally lift its collective
head and be innovative.

To assure WHO's political independence, balance and even handedness towards
American democracy and Chinese harmony I intend to have three American and
three Chinese board of directors of high caliber besides myself. This is
according to the strict advice of my corporate attorney as well as organization
advisor. Our goal is to win over the American main stream to be the conduit as
well as reservoir for harmony ideals. For harmony to take hold in the US it needs
to have grass root support. It is a high sounding goal but we can do it.
I have the strongest conviction that we are at the forefront of the universal tide for
world harmony. China's harmony renaissance is an indispensable part of
it. Chinese Americans have an advantage because of our cultural heritage on
harmony. Chinese traditional harmony is firmly rooted in our family unity. Family
is the basic cell of social structure. We also have the moral high ground this
time for a change. The West has the moral high ground for over two hundred
years now, because of democracy ideals. I already have two firm American
commitments to the position of Board filled. They earned my respect because of

their unique insight towards harmony despite their European American
background.
For China it is harmony renaissance, for America it is harmony solution for a

world harmony. We cannot slight either major power as well as all important
opportunity in five continents. The Iraqi Study Commission does not have magic
solutions. Norm Chomsky the single most respected critic and conscience of
America, does not have a solution for America's foreign affairs decline. There is
no lack of American think tank working on this major US concern. WHO
together with your support can formulate concrete plans for the US. These
plans proceed with harmony studies.

discussions. Harmony is tolerance, acceptance, mutual respect and
equality. No country can claim the only moral high ground. I hope you

I hope you are not talking about restricting people from discussing harmony
society and harmony country, at least during our first meeting this Saturday. After all, our
audience may not fully realize the central focus on Harmony World and Harmony
Renaissance which you intend to concentrate on.
Since most of the attendees are highly intelligent and well educated seniors
who would easily accept the idea of Harmony World, they are not the type willing
to be merely cheerleaders. Therefore I hope you would concentrate on selling the
concept ahead of your organization as the first shot.

Subject: Dec. 9th,2006 Harmony Renaissance Presentation.
Dear Friends of WHO,
I hope you do not mind I continue to use the acronym WHO for World Harmony
Organization internally. I will explain later it is intentional even though the
acronym has been used widely to indicate another UN organization. Besides it
is such a nice word to use among us.
For all our meetings, I would like some cooperation to keep the discussion close
to Harmony World and Harmony Renaissance and their innovative ideas. We
are not going to discuss harmony society and harmony country at any
length. Let us leave that to the individual countries. As a think tank we will be
more effective focusing on world harmony. Harmony by my definition is
tolerance, acceptance, equality, non interference and respect for all countries
rich or poor, powerful or weak. We emphasize mutual development and
harmony development. There is no backward or bad country, only countries at
different stages of development. Harmony will be a universal goal if we all work
together. America and China certainly have every reason to learn from each
other. They are on the opposite of East and West and new and old. One can
improve democracy implementation the other can learn about harmony.
Between any two countries there is always complementary and win-win

development. Harmony belongs to the world and to every country. It is a
dynamic and multicultural development. Harmony accepts unity in
diversity. Confucius said "JUN ZE HE ER BU TONG. XIAO REN TONG ER BU
HE". Which means gentlemen prefer harmony over unity, petty people prefer
unity over harmony.
To set the mood, I would like to start with two simple fun contests with my book
as prizes. I will list on the board the following sets of names and terms:
(1) Bill Gates, Einstein, McDonald.

(2) World Unity, World Harmony, World Democracy
For (1) I will ask for the most innovative individual and why.
For (2) I will ask for the easier to realize vision. Of course all three are hard to
Achieve. I will convincingly explain my choice and why it is more achievable.
Additionally, no body needs to take notes during my presentation. I welcome

new ideas to enrich WHO. My delivery will be taken from papers in my
book which were published by Xinhua News on Nov. 1 and Nov 2, 2006 opinion
sections, and also submitted to NABE for publication. The NABE Feb 7th 2007
Conference is very appropriately titled to announce my papers to the US main
stream. It is "One Nation: Many Languages, Many Cultures in a changing
world". My harmony papers will certainly invoke some resonance among the
over 5000 American teachers who will be attending. American teachers are
most receptive and proud to teach innovative ideas.

remind you that we should not contrast China and US, I think Chairman Hu
doesn't like to be against Bush either. Harmony should first harmonize US with

Following email was originally a response to Dr. L regarding WHO must be

democratic and welcome diverse ideas and solutions. After he read the email
he suggested that I quote my line in this email "One day all countries will
understand the most appropriate political system is the system with their own

harmony." I just realized that this line is also the answer to your concern that
democracy must be served. I hope you do not mind I resend this email to
you. After all, harmony does include democratic principles to resolve conflicts
between government and its people. To go one step further may I suggest "The
best system for a country is its own harmony system?" The world should be
served by a multitude of democratic systems and not one single standard.
The whole rational but the whole behind WHO is to invite participation from the
broader believers. That is why we welcome research, serious opinion, seminars
and conferences on harmony. We intend to initiate worldwide harmony
discussions.
The US is more structured in harmony society because of 230 years of relative

peace and prosperity. American society is built with strong law and order.
Ancient China was firmly rooted in family harmony. China experienced 150
years of foreign domination and is facing the monumental task of reform and
opening up. Both are great nations. China can learn more about harmony
society by combining family unity with society law and order. America can learn
more about family unity and world harmony.
Prime Minister Blair is quoted in the press today as saying "In my view, the only
modern form of realism is one that has ideals at the center of it." This is a
sweeping statement worth pondering. Of course by his contents he means
democracy. But I go beyond democracy to harmony, harmony renaissance and
world harmony. Harmony and harmony society is not new. But harmony
renaissance and harmony world is new.
WHO believes in harmony renaissance, harmony includes democracy,

ecology and harmony will be the ideal that the should strike for. These are
innovative ideas advanced by WHO for the world to discuss and debate. Further
more, the political system with Chinese characteristics is a political system with
Chinese harmony. These ideas were contained in WHO’s book "China's
Harmony Renaissance- What the World Must Know." For China, the ideal
political system with Chinese characteristics is a political system with Chinese
harmony. One day all countries will understand the most appropriate political
system is the system with their own harmony.
Again WHO welcomes innovative ideas and solutions and encourages

participation in rallying the world to begin discuss world harmony. I believe there
is already a major movement in China debating harmony society. I hope it will
lead to harmony renaissance in China. We in the US are in a unique position to
initiate world harmony innovative thinking. We will be remembered as pioneers.

Dear Friends, Dec. 10, 2006

I appreciate very much for your support and participation at the Dec. 9, 2006 talk
"China's Harmony Renaissance-What the World Must Know" based on my book
of the same title. There was a report, short and sweet, written by Daniel Zhao,
published by World Journal Dec 10th that is note worthy. I did not have a
chance to check China Press yet. I noticed that the Chief Editor William Que
was at the meeting also.
I must also thank those dear friends who has given me valuable constructive
ideas and comments to further World Harmony before and during the
meeting. Your support is very much appreciated. The comments can be
classified in two major categories. They are importance of American democracy
on world stage, and how we can combine it with China’s harmony renaissance to
attract American main stream. This hits the nail on the head and is the
most important first task for WHO.
During the meeting we accepted the fact that America and China are both great
countries, one is ancient and rich in harmony heritage and the other is young and
vibrant, model of Western democracy. In today’s farewell speech Annan asked
the question, "You American did so much in the last century, to build an effective
multilateral system, with the United Nations at its heart. Do you need it less
today, and does it need you less than 60 years ago?"
To put it simply China needs to expand domestic democracy and America needs
a dose of world harmony awareness. I believe the tide is with us and the timing
is right for us to bring both countries working together. For this reason I am
working on expanding one of my paper on democracy and harmony, twin pillars
of world culture, to pose the question that you all asked in the Dec. 9
meeting. How can we bring theory into action? I need your comments and
Suggestions.
To take our ideas into action I called it world harmony action and
teaching(WHAT), I propose a bay area main stream conference supported by
universities and think tanks and sponsored by major corporations. The title of
the conference can be timely called "American Democracy and China's Harmony
Renaissance-In Search of Multinational Solutions." I put America in front
because it will attract Americans and their pride. But ultimately harmony stands
for multilateralism and tolerance. Multilateral democracy is the building of world
harmony.

Does world harmony renaissance has a chance on world stage facing the
powerful Western democracy institutions, NGO's and dominant media? This is a
question most likely in all Easterners minds but a little self conscious to ask. But
the question is out and looking at us squarely in the face. In my last email I
answered it indirectly by suggesting what WHO can do to address the
concern. Specifically I suggest that we apply harmony, monitor the lack or
success of democracy in international political arena and support the
UN. Harmony is as real as democracy but more encompassing.
I am very confident that harmony renaissance will come because it is developed

from the order of nature and it is an all embracing concept. Without hesitation I
predicted before that in the 21st Century Harmony and Democracy will be equally
important as world ideals. Ultimately harmony embraces democracy but that will
take more effort to sink in, may be another century. Under the assertive
questioning by Stephanopolis on Christmas eve, 2006, Ban Ki-Moon, our new UN
Secretary General, barely managed one statement of his own "I am interested in
working for harmony." But that is a very important beginning.
Harmony and democracy will be equally accepted by the world. Just as harmony
promotes ecology, harmony will surely promote democracy also. Harmony is the
ultimate consensus of nature and mankind, it resolves all dynamic
imbalances. When dynamic balance is achieved harmony is reached. In fluid
mechanics one must look for dynamic balance as beautifully represented by the
Daoist life sign.
Both Laotze and modern quantum physics are in agreement that the universe is
mostly dark energy and the assertive visible matters are but a small part of the

universe. Democracy as part of harmony ideal is all embracing soft(dark)
energy. Democracy only becomes hard energy when it is forcefully
promoted. One must be instep with soft harmony by pursuing and advocating
harmony and not forcefully promoting it.
As a fluid mechanics major I liken harmony to water. It sustains life. Where

there is water there is life. If not managed well it will soon be in shortage. It seeks
harmony and tranquility when it is in balance. It moves around obstacles. It wets
and infiltrates all the time. It flows freely and fills all reservoirs to full when
available. When contained it builds up pressure until it is relieved. When
imbalance is allowed to built, it can cause the greatest waves if not addressed. It
can float and sink a boat. Given time it can bore through the hardest rock. It is
unyielding and triumphs over force. The essence of harmony is tolerance,
accepting, respect, equality and patience. It is the ultimate of human virtue
and the very nature of the soft(dark) energy that is the universe.
Incidentally in space, in the absence of gravity, water still creates waves through
its dominant but minute surface tension and capillary forces. This
weightlessness phenomenon was one of my published research papers during
the early space travel days of the 1960's. My innovative analytical discovery was
subsequently substantiated by experiments performed by other researchers.

I respect your expertise on world affairs and would like to request your support. I
believe world harmony renaissance can be the solution for some of today’s world
problems. The following issue is raised by another advisor of WHO. Please
respond and comment on my concern of Western media world dominance. .
I agree there are many Western Universities and think tanks of high caliber
specialize in world affairs. My interest also happens to be in world affairs ever
since my advocacy in the International Relation Club at Brown University some
fifty years ago. Despite the abundance of research and foreign affairs publication

pouring out of the Western media there is still yet any significant reference to
world harmony renaissance as solution to world conflicts. However, we hear
Asian leaders including China's president Hu Jintao and the new UN Secretary
General Ban Ki - Moon start to mention harmony as world solution. President Hu
in a major 60th UN anniversary speech announced World harmony as solution to
world conflicts. Ban Ki-Moon on Christmas eve, 2006 amid pressure from
George Stephanopolis to support US foreign policy responded by saying the one
crucial point of that interview. What he said was; "I am interested in working for
harmony."
The Iraq Study Group Report headed by Baker and Hamilton included the effort of
many experts and prestigious think tanks such as Institute of Policy Studies and
American Enterprise Institute. The report suggested major change in US foreign
policy direction by opening dialogues in Middle East and include Iran and
Syria. It fell short of suggesting consultation in harmony. All countries old and
new have their different historical background and culture that in part explain that
East is East and West is West. It seems that the East is more ready to talk about
harmony renaissance and the West favors the promotion of democracy as world
solution. Ever since the enlightenment period of 1600 the West has managed
the promotion of democracy. Democracy is well known today and it affected the
world in an earth shaking way. China lost its heritage in dealing with the western
democracy movement for at least 150 years.
A country can have democracy but not necessary harmony. But a country has
harmony has its own democratic consensus. Harmony practice is necessary and
urgent to assure stability and sustainable development. The best system for any
country is its own harmony system. On the present worldwide consumer rush the
world will face great resources shortage sooner than we think. World harmony
also embraces ecology and resource conservation.
I predict world harmony renaissance will surely come. In time, it will become a
worldwide tide. I am preparing to turn over World Harmony Organization and its
affiliated Commissions at the earliest moment when UN is ready. In the mean
time I will play my small role to encourage the active formation of World Harmony
Institute to study harmony theory and practice and call for worldwide conferences
and World Harmony Forum to promote world dialogue on harmony
solutions. World Harmony Organization is dedicated to the advocacy and pursuit
of world harmony consensus. In this spirit, WHO chapter in the US is requesting
support to organize the Sino-America Harmony Commission, The Resource and
Ecology Commission, World Harmony Cultural Commission and World Harmony
Commission which will publish annual and periodic reports by World Harmony

Read your letter with interest. On the West, it is not true that it has sought
to promote democracy. The truth is conceded even by the most dedicated
scholar/activists involved in "democracy promotion," like Thomas
Carothers. He finds that all American leaders are "schizophrenic". They
support democracy if and only if it accords with strategic-economic
objectives. He is reviewing only the period from 1980 to the
present. Before that, there is hardly even a pretense of promoting
democracy. The European record is far worse.
Calling for world harmony is wise and sensible. That is what activists do all
the time; in the international global justice movement, for example. Your
efforts are certainly most welcome in that regard. We each pick the ways

I am very honored to communicate with you. Very few people inspired me with
professionalism as you do. I am dedicated to world harmony renaissance and
world harmony consensus. I am a simple man in a complex world. I need your
advice in working with the American people on harmony. Based on your last
comment to me that "Calling for harmony is wise and sensible" I believe we have
some common ground to build on. America, with prosperity and stability for over
three hundred years, has reasonable social harmony but in foreign affairs it could
use more harmony.
China like many countries in the world is profoundly perturbed by Western

democracy and Western science. For over 150 years China has been struggling
for modernization as demonstrated by Sun Yatsen's democracy revolution, Mao
Zedong's anti imperialism revolution, the cultural revolution and the
current opening up and reform. The year 2002 China's leadership in dealing with
the rapid disproportionate economic growth came up with the concept of scientific
development. That eventually led to the current harmony society policy. China's
hope of achieving harmony within and without must be firmly grounded in reviving
its ancient harmony heritage. That is a long story.
In the East my essay on harmony renaissance and harmony consensus struck

the chords of many in and out of the government. I have the support of some
Asian and African leaders. I see hope but a lot of work remains to be done. In my
perspective, socialism with Chinese characteristics is socialism with Chinese
harmony. China needs harmony to complete its journey towards real
democracy. The best system for any country is its own harmony system
otherwise it cannot achieve stability. Stability goes beyond ideology. I also
believe harmony belongs to the world and world harmony consensus must have
U.S. China cooperation. That is where your help comes in. I am looking for
your advice on a game plan to reach the American people, hopefully the main
stream. Your experience in activism is vast. American people need to
be awakened to the ideal of harmony to moderate U. S. foreign policy. Despite

since my undergraduate days at Brown University during the 50's. My
roommate, James Townsend, was a Christian Scientist and I was influenced by
him.
I have been writing timely articles about World Harmony Renaissance that have
been published by Xinhua net and accepted for publication by NABE Feb.2007
Conference. Some of the earlier published articles were compiled in a book
titled China's Harmony Renaissance- What the world must know, published by
World Harmony Organization.
Since the publication of my world harmony renaissance articles and book, I have
received many comments and questions from meetings, emails and private
discussions. As a result I am working on another book that will be titled World
Harmony Renaissance, Hope for a More Understanding World. It will be my
answers and comments to the worldwide response to my publications.
Prof. Noam Chomsky recommended that I submit some of my timely world affairs
comments on harmony for advanced preview before the publication of my
second book. He highly recommended Christian Science Monitor and your
column. The following three short world harmony renaissance opinion articles
are each under 750 words and may be of great timely interest to your reader
and the world at this critical juncture.

HARMONY IS NATURAL SCIENCE
Harmony is human science developed from natural science. The order of nature
is dynamic balance in pursuit of harmony as illustrated by the Daoist sign of
life. Einstein said that God does not play dice with
nature. Another way of putting it is "Nature seeks harmony and harmony is the
order of nature." The seasons we observed, the occurrences of floods, typhoons
and tsunamis are all testimonials of natural acts seeking harmony. They are
large events in the victims' life, but small dynamic balances to achieve
harmony compared to the size of the earth. These natural phenomena are
caused by pressure and temperature imbalances. Human beings are endowed
with intellects that are above natural phenomena. Our ideology differences can
create wars that are more destructive than any earthly natural forces. We
believe we can control nature. In reality human beings are part of the natural
order. All ideology struggles are imbalances that must eventually return to
harmony, the order of nature. Peace can only be temporary without
harmony. Harmony is the ultimate human virtue of tolerance, respect,
acceptance, and patience with other cultures, religions, political systems and
ideologies.
The universe was created by dark energy (the Ying), by virtue of the dynamic
creation process the universe will continue to expand at an enormous scale. In
Dao De Jing, Dao besides meaning the way, can also be interpreted as the dark
energy. De is virtue and harmony is the ultimate human virtue. The gems
contained in Dao De Jing warrant a concerted effort to reinterpret Dao De Jing
from the perspective of modern science. World harmony renaissance can
free the collective mind of all people in the world to pursuit even broader scientific
development.

CROSS STRAIT HARMONY: SOLUTIONS FOR CHINA AND TAIWAN
Economic, cultural, travel and many other co-operations and

interchanges between China and Taiwan is an undeniably increasing tide. This
tide is easily observable and does not require proof. The reality of cross strait
relation is eventual unity under the umbrella of greater China. The concept of
unity in diversity for greater China or the world has been in existence for
sometime. All political systems of the world will eventually tend towards national
distinctive democracy. Whether it is one leading party with consensus
supportive parties, two party confrontational and multiparty political systems,
democracy can only be meaningful when harmony consensus can be
achieved. The best system for any country or society is a system with their own
harmony consensus. The future reality will be national specific democracy
systems by harmony consensus. The hope of a better world also lies in our
pursuit of world harmony consensus. About this I have spoken many times.
The concept of one country two systems is a brilliant harmony policy advanced
by Deng Xiaoping. It greatly facilitated the reunification of China and Hong
Kong. Many supported and still believe in one country two systems as a
possible solution for cross strait whether we have outgrown it or
not. With the Sixth Plenum of the 16th Central Committee, Oct 8 to 11,2006
harmony "Decision" announcement, China rediscovers its ancient cultural
heritage. The Party's decision to pursuit "Harmony Society" is necessary and
essential to solve the disproportionate growth pains of the
historically unprecedented rapid economic growth. The rigorous pursuit of
harmony society by China will surely bring more meaningful and real democracy
to Chinese people. It is not unimaginable that soon China through harmony
achieves more real democracy for Chinese people than Taiwan. After all China
will be the first major country to reach democracy through harmony renaissance
in the modern world. It will be true socialism with Chinese harmony as I wrote
about in my book. When that time comes political unification across the strait
becomes a simple reality.
To really bring brothers separated by the strait together as true brothers, China
only needs to pursuit rigorously a harmony interchange and harmony mutual
development policy. WHO advocates harmony solutions to China and to the
world. It is the only sustainable solution to world problems.

conflicts. Ban Ki-Moon on Christmas eve, 2006 amid pressure from George
Stephanopolis to support US foreign policy responded by saying the one crucial
point of that interview. What he said was; "I am interested in working for
harmony." It is no coincidence he also meant harmony as solution of world
problems.
The Iraqi Study Group Report headed by Baker and Hamilton included the effort
of many experts and prestigious think tanks such as Institute of Policy Studies
and American Enterprise Institute. The report suggested major change in US
foreign policy direction by opening dialogues in Middle East and include Iran and
Syria. It fell short of suggesting consultation in harmony. All countries old and
new have their different historical background and culture that in part explain
that East is East and West is West. It seems that the East is more ready to talk
about harmony renaissance and the West favors the promotion of democracy as
world solution. Ever since the enlightenment period of 1600 the West has
managed the promotion of democracy. Democracy is well known today and it
affected the world in a profound way.
A country can have democracy but not necessary harmony. But a country has
harmony has its own democratic consensus. Peace is only temporary if
harmony cannot prevail. Harmony practice is necessary and urgent to assure
stability and sustainable development. The best system for any country is its

own harmony system. On the present worldwide consumer rush the world will
face great resources shortage sooner than we think. World harmony also
embraces ecology and resource conservation.
Harmony renaissance will come because it is will develop from the order of
nature and the order of nature is harmony. Earth quakes, typhoons and
tsunamis are all natures’ imbalances that are caused by pressure and
temperature differences. The end results of these catastrophes are the calm of
nature. Human has superior intellect. Wars created by ideology struggles can
be far more destructive than nature’s calamities. We think we can control nature
but human activities obey the same order of nature.
Harmony and democracy will be equally accepted by the world. Just as

harmony promotes ecology, harmony will surely promote democracy
also. Harmony is the ultimate consensus of nature and mankind, it resolves all
dynamic imbalances. When dynamic balance is achieved harmony is
reached. As in fluid mechanics one must look for dynamic balance in harmony.
This is beautifully represented by the Daoist life sign.
As a fluid mechanics major I liken harmony to water. It sustains life. Where

there is water there is life. If not managed well it will soon be in shortage. It
seeks harmony and tranquility when it is in balance. It flows freely and fills all
reservoirs to full when available. When contained it builds up pressure until it is
relieved. When imbalance is allowed to built, it can cause the greatest upset if
not addressed. It can float and sink a boat. Given time it can bore through the
hardest rock. It is unyielding and triumphs over force. The essence of harmony
is tolerance, accepting, respect, equality and patience. It is the ultimate of
human virtue and the very nature of the dark energy that is the universe.

BEGINNING OF 2007

The understanding of World Harmony Renaissance Center(WHRC) at SFSU is

only the beginning. There will be many winning programs to make WHRC a
valuable entity at SFSU. I did not mention in my last email the reception from
SFSU faculty and administrator is overwhelming. Financially WHRC will no
doubt prove itself more than feasible.
My vision for WHRC is to multiply itself worldwide. The cooperation with SFSU
as the first think tank with activism will be made into a model. Harmony is an
ideal and renaissance is action. When ideal is fostered by action it translates
into financially viable memorable events. Democracy with action has profoundly
affected the world. Harmony is all embracing. It addresses religion, democracy
and ecology imbalances. These are the three most significant movements of the
world of major concern.
I have asked my attorney, Leon Jew, to prosecute worldwide rights for WHRC.
Because of the more than enthusiastic reception form SFSU, I expect the chain
of WHRC will grow. The claim for creditability for WHRC lies in my two
books. They are "China's harmony renaissance-What the world must know" and
"World Harmony Renaissance-Promise for a better World".
Those who have my first book may want to re -read my Forward. It is a short
essay that will be referred to as a break through. I look for your support in

After three months of intensive discussions, SFSU and I arrived at a

major harmony consensus. World Harmony Organization has reached tentative
agreement to jointly set up a World Harmony Center at San Francisco State
University today. College of Education under Dean Perea will play the lead to
include other university depts. such as Humanity, Music, International programs
etc. Dean Perea will also be an honorary Director of WHO. WHO together
with SFSU will cooperate to conduct events such as World Harmony education,
conferences, book publishing, Calligraphy Exhibition and contest, choral music
and other world harmony cultural performances. Details of programs and

Thank you for accepting our offer to become a Honorary Director of the World
Harmony Organization. Your idea of a harmony center at San Francisco State
University is a splendid one. Harmony is an ideal and renaissance is a proven
mode of action. I propose that the first World Harmony Renaissance Center be
formed at SFSU as a pilot model and my suggested name be trade marked. I
agree with you full heartedly that the pursuit of harmony is best from
education. I envision soon there will be many joint harmony 101 courses
throughout many American and Chinese universities. The planned world
harmony cultural events can be cost effective to make WHRC
financially independent. It will catch on. I am already discussing the idea of
WHRC with President Ruth Simmons of Brown University, my Alma Mater. The
response was good.
I believe harmony renaissance is the break through the world is waiting for to
bring human to the next level of achievement. Harmony was developed from the
order of nature, it is all embracing. Democracy was rediscovered during the
period of Enlightenment and European Renaissance. The ideal of democracy in
the short 300 years or so since the Period of Enlightenment has profoundly
affected the world. Harmony includes ecology, democracy and all dynamic
balances of the universe. Democracy addresses part of the total dynamic
balance, which is relation between the government and its citizens. Harmony
Renaissance will allow human to reach a higher value consensus without religion
and politics. Today's different religions and politics are at times mutually
threatening and exclusive. Harmony advocates tolerance, acceptance, mutual
respect and equality. By pursuing mutual development, and harmony
development world harmony renaissance will bring the world out of unilateralism
and confrontational strives. The future impact of World Harmony Renaissance
on human achievement will no doubt exceed the European Renaissance.
I propose that SFSU and WHO immediately proceed to plan lectures and
seminars on harmony renaissance to prepare the way for WHRC cultural
events. My published book "China's Harmony Renaissance- What the World
must Know" and next one in preparation answering questions and comments to
my first book can be used as stepping stones for the call for more papers and
contributions. Befitting the mission of WHRC my second book will be titled
"World Harmony Renaissance - Promise for a Better World". I suggest that
SFSU and WHO start a joint effort to add Chinese translations to my books. The
combined versions can serve the dual purpose as text books for harmony and

On Jan 20th,2007 Saturday WHO will do a warm up meeting for the Chinese
community to introduce my two harmony papers submitted to the NABE Feb 7 to
10, 2007conference at San Jose on "One nation, many languages and cultures in
a changing world." There is no better way to change the world than through

and America Democracy in 21st century" and "Using Chinese harmony and
science history as text to improve Chinese teaching." Both papers are intended

It was my pleasure chatting with President Simmons and you regarding the
proposed formation of World Harmony Renaissance Center at San Francisco
State University. It will be a joint effort between World Harmony Organization
and the College of Education, Humanity, International Programs and Music Dept
of SFSU.
The Proposed Center will pursuit World Harmony Renaissance through research,
seminars, conferences, publications, teaching and various international cultural
activities, performances and exhibitions. Detail planning is underway. As I
suggested, we would like to open a dialogue with interested departments and
groups at Brown regarding possible cooperation and joint activities.
The book "China’s harmony renaissance-What the world must know", which
consists of a series of harmony articles was authored by me and published Nov.
2006 by World Harmony Organization. The collected papers appeared on
Xinhuanet and previewed for the coming NABE Feb. 2007 Conference. The
theme of the conference is "One nation many cultures and many languages in a
changing world." During that conference from Feb 7 to 10, 2007 I will present

and "Using harmony and Chinese ancient science history text to improve
Chinese language teaching." The second book under preparation consisted of

As you said my life is interesting and colorful. I will be remembered most by my

"Harmony Declaration". I agreed to your proposal to write my story. Call me
and let us discuss the length.
Besides my theory and writings on harmony through which you have come to
know me, there are certain events in my life also illustrate my character. There
is no doubt my "Harmony Declaration" will be improved by those brilliant
minds who come after me. It will herald and inspire the "Age of Harmony"
because of my creativeness and innovation.
The most fitting story of me is that I am a creative entrepreneur crusader

and man of action. My fire and smoke safety research at NBS and subsequent
crusade during the 1970's made smoke detector in every American house a code
standard today. My interest in art and peace exhibitions during the 1980"s gave
me the opportunity to help make Ting Shao Kwong famous. Remind me to give
you a Ting Shao Kwong poster from my collection.
Events of my past be it innovative, pale in front of my "Harmony

Declaration". The initial form as I reprinted here no doubt will be fine tuned and
expanded by generations. In its final form its impact on civilization will be more
significant than the American Bill of Rights and Declaration of
Independence. Because my idea of harmony renaissance belongs to the world
and not one country. Already my "Harmony Declaration" in Chinese will become
the center piece of a planned Harmony Renaissance Calligraphy worldwide

(A) CALL FOR WORLD PARTICIPATION OF WORLD HARMOMY
RENAISSANCE DECLARATION
Dear Friends,
World Harmony Organization is working on our third book of harmony series. It

will be titled "Scientific Theory of Harmony Renaissance." Human beings are
tending towards greater unity in diversity which is world harmony. About 2500
years ago, the Middle East developed religion to achieve harmony with nature
and China developed moral value teachings with emphasis on self discipline and
family unity to achieve harmony at about the same period. The Europeans
rediscovered ancient Greek Democracy through the Enlightenment and
Renaissance periods beginning the 1600. This brought about serious attempts
by human beings to build society and national harmony. Some 230 years ago
America pioneered the new age of democracy through its Declaration of
Independence and Bill of Rights. A comprehensive system of laws resulted to
safe guard society and national harmony. Subsequent democracy movements
have a profound impact on the world and still on going. Please refer to our first
book "China's harmony renaissance: What the world must know" for details on
these different stages of development.
To cope with the inequity brought about by rapid economic development since
reform and opening up, Chinese government announced the Concept of
Scientific Development during 2002. This is the inevitable policy to assure
sustainable development. This was followed by the logical announcement of
Decisions of Harmony Society by China in Oct 8-10, 2006.
HARMONY IS NATURAL SCIENCE

Harmony is human science developed from natural science. The order of nature
is dynamic balance in pursuit of harmony as illustrated by the Daoist sign of
life. Einstein said that God does not play dice with
nature. Another way of putting it is "Nature seeks harmony and harmony is the
order of nature." The seasons we observed, the occurrences of floods, typhoons
and tsunamis are all testimonials of natural acts seeking harmony. They are
large events in the victims' life, but small dynamic balances to achieve
harmony compared to the size of the earth. These natural phenomena are
caused by pressure and temperature imbalances. Human beings are endowed
with intellects that are above natural phenomena. Our ideology differences can
create wars that are more destructive than any earthly natural forces. We
believe we can control nature. In reality human beings are part of the natural
order. All ideology struggles are imbalances that must eventually return to
harmony, the order of nature. Peace can only be temporary without

harmony. Harmony is the ultimate human virtue of tolerance, respect,
acceptance, and patience with other cultures, religions, political systems and
ideologies.
The universe was created by dark energy (the Ying), by virtue of the dynamic
creation process the universe will continue to expand at an enormous scale. In
Dao De Jing, Dao besides meaning the way, can also be interpreted as the dark
energy. De is virtue and harmony is the ultimate human virtue. The gems
contained in Dao De Jing warrant a concerted effort to reinterpret Dao De Jing
from the perspective of modern science. World harmony renaissance can
free the collective mind of all people in the world to pursuit even broader scientific
development.

WHO, a non-profit and non-governmental organization and the first of its

kind in the world, is dedicated to the pursuit of World Harmony
Renaissance study and research, the organization said in a press release.

It said the organization was formed on the basis of the harmony theory

Dear Friends,
Thank you all for coming to our first seminar to discuss world harmony
renaissance, especially to those who came to help and to Dr. Peter Tien and Mr.
Qin Nanji who acted as presenters on short notice. It was a lively meeting with
strong audience participation because of the timely harmony topic and Dr. Tien,
Mr. Qin's preparation ahead of time. The meeting was at its height when it had
to end because time ran out. The general feeling is to meet again soon to
discuss organization and planning of harmony activities.
My first task is to request the presenters and those who expressed their opinions
to email me their thoughts and what more they want to say because of
yesterday's time limitation. Do not hesitate to send me detail thoughts. I
promise you your thoughts will be well received. Feed backs are very important
because we will continue the learning process. Harmony renaissance begins
with harmony discussions and consultations I learned a lot from the feed backs
to my book "China's Harmony Renaissance:What the World Must Know". From
the comments and my answers I am now in the process of publishing my second
book titled "World Harmony Renaissance:Promise for a Better World".
The comment from Prof. Z that history showed Chinese do not have harmony in
their genes was very interesting. Mr. Qin answered that Chinese family harmony
without political ideology had preserved Chinese culture for 5000 years. Dr.
Tien also commented that Chinese harmony is our forefather's moral value
teaching being handed down from ages. Mr. Qin further expanded that Chinese
harmony gene is in family unity which is the basic cell of human harmony.
Sheila and Dr. Tien compared the Jewish and Chinese people's influence in the
U.S. main stream. Lack of harmony and unity among Chinese Americans is the
cause of lack of influence in U. S. society. Is that all? Are there other
reasons? This can also be a vast research topic. Please send in your
comments.
I did not respond to Prof. Z’s claim that Chinese people do not have harmony in
their genes by his historical account. I did not wish to make any comments at the
time in consideration of other esteemed opinions from the audience. Dr. Tien

remarked that Chinese ancient moral value teaching stresses harmony which is
the essence of Chinese culture. Mr. Qin remarked that Chinese people's self
discipline and our family unity are ample proofs of Chinese style harmony. This
is a great topic for research I will follow through with your responses.
All cultures have harmony and their own brand of harmony philosophy. Middle
East called it religion, Europe call it Democracy. China just used the word
harmony for its contribution to the world civilization. Let us call all cultural
harmony as harmony and do what we can to help world harmony renaissance,
not just proclaim our own brand. I will reserve my exposition on this topic and
not to debate which culture has the best harmony. Because all cultural harmony
are important.
From a scientific view point ecology is one of the most pressing issues of human
kind today. Conservation of resources tops the list. Ask any American Chinese
here who is better at conservation of resources, American or Chinese? For five
thousand years until the 1700, Chinese civilization reined supreme in science but
did not significantly threaten the environment. For the short 300 years modern
consumerism, we are told by experts (including Al Gore, preferred US president
by more than half the US population) world ecology will be destroyed if nature's
harmony is not returned.
Politics often lead to strives because many politicians practice unilateralism. It is

either my party or your party. At times it can be cut throat. Central to harmony
is unity in diversity, it teaches tolerance, acceptance, equality and respect. In
music more than other cultures. Europe practiced harmony. The Symphonies
and operas of Beethoven, Brahms, Mozart, Puccini, Verdi and Wagner were
great because of their harmony. This contribution to harmony is unique and
profound. President Hu Jintao refered to it also but in a different way. Harmony
must rise above political strives.
About politics, as an aside, here is a very interesting personal story about how
politics can change in a jiff at a whim. During the late 1950's for those who still
remember the Cold War, there were political propaganda galore from both sides
of the camps. To protect the Americans from the evils of Communism,
Americans were not allowed to travel to China and McCarthyism was in control of
the US politics. Its damage to US free thinking still remains today. Because I
came to US for education from Hong Kong via Shanghai I was ridiculed as
Commie by some Americans. Well, at Brown as an active member of the
International club I invited a well known Catholic priest to give a speech at
Brown. Sorry the name escaped me just now, it was more than fifty years
ago. The Brown University record can be checked about that. It was quite an
event judged by the various Department Heads that showed up. He was
condemned by all major US media for defying the ban to travel to China. Of all
horrible things he also brought with him a group of American college students to
China.

This mild mannered catholic priest out of his pure curiosity about China created a
major credibility problem for the US government. Because he plainly said on
return that China during the 1950's was not as bad as the US media made it out
to be. In fact he said China at the time was mainly focused on reconstruction
equivalent to what we call reform and modernization today. I sat in the first row
to introduce the speaker and a number of Depart Heads of Brown were right
behind me. As the speaker narrated his innocent travel in China I heard behind
me louder and louder pipe puffing sound. When I turned back I discovered Prof
Williams, Prof. from the Political Department. His face a crimson red and puffing
with all his might on his pipe. After the meeting I quarried Prof Williams why his
pipe puffing was getting louder and louder as the speaker’s interesting story
unwinding. He announced with indignity "Propaganda! Pure propaganda! He is
helping the other side." Few years ago, I read a Brown University Brochure
advertising a grand Education Tour to China. The tour expert lecturer was the
angry Prof. Williams, no less." What irony, how political wind can turn on a
dime.

future seminars. Harmony is the great unifying force. The universe is in
constant dynamic flux, without harmony the universe will self destruct. "Be
proud you are citizens of the world and not citizens of one country."

Thank you for organizing yesterday's SFSU meeting to formulate an action plan
for world harmony. I believe it was a historical meeting just as the World
Harmony Organization meeting on Jan 20, 2007. The statement by Xinhua
describing WHO formation as first harmony organization of its kind was Xinhua's
claim and true.
During yesterday's meeting you and I both insisted that harmony belongs to the
world. That is why WHO's charter is non profit, non religious and non
governmental in order to be totally independent. The mission of world harmony
is too important to be colored by any nation and any group. For the same
reason, the future plan for World Harmony Renaissance Center at
SFSU conceived by both of us must not be directly connected to the Political
Department and the Confucius Institute. By maintaining our independence we
will cause U.S., China and all other nations and organizations to support and
compete to fund us. We can initiate World Harmony Watch Report to insure
world participation. This way it is better for us and for all governments in the
long run. This is preferred by me and the Chinese Consulate here. What do
you think? By the way, I have the strong support of a number African
governments through the circulation of my first book. I will explain when we
have an opportunity.
I thank you for your consensus leadership within SFSU and look forward to your
plan to include all interested participations within SFSU, admitting the importance
of our grand vision for WHO and future World Harmony Renaissance Center at
SFSU. Excuse me for writing my feeling only because you and I share the same

To reconnect with Prof. Williams, I should add the important lecture I organized for
Brown International club must be around 1957 to 1958. I invited the Catholic father
who defied Statement Department orders and brought a group of American youth to visit
Peoples Republic China. Sorry I forgot the Rev. father's name. It has been many years
but that lecture must be in Brown record. But the event is historical because it is the first
official visit of China since 1949 by a group of Americans. As an undergraduate that
lecture was as ground breaking as my announcement of world harmony renaissance
today. As I said world harmony renaissance will release human beings creativity and
innovation to the next level beyond European Renaissance.
About 2500 years ago human beings experienced a great surge of creativity with religion
and philosophy flourished. At that time there were no
National boundaries. The second great surge of creativity was the European
Renaissance. I predict the time has come for the third surge of creativity which will be
led by world harmony renaissance without national boundaries.

CALL FOR WORLD HARMONY RENAISSANCE AND RETURN TO BETTER AND
SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT. FEB 3, 2007
Dear Friends,
Not everybody subscribes to world wave development theories but many

do. Among the famous wave theory is one that postulates that scientific and
technology began from Europe now is spreading to the East in a bigger wave
cycle. My wife, the history teacher, remarked to me one day that there is
a movement towards fundamentalism that brought about today’s sorry state of
world affairs. Both Middle East extremism and the U.S. Christian revival are
examples. These are not casual remarks; there is definite wisdom about
it. After all Bush proclaimed himself born again Christian and got him the
Christian support to be elected U.S. President during the 2000 campaign. With
considerable bravado our modern day President announced that God wanted
him to be President or God wanted him to run for President. The difference of
interpretation is not important at this point. However, Bush proclaimed that our
"War on Terror" is the ideological struggle of the 21st century.
At the same time there is a definite positive movement yearning for a better life in
China and parts of the world. because of the disharmony created by recent break
neck uneven economic development. This positive movement runs counter to the
negative fundamentalism in dynamic counter movements that may lead to a
more harmonious world. This peaceful harmony movement is evidenced by the
Chinese government's announced policy during the Oct.2006 CPC Sixth Plenum
meeting. I believe the world as a whole needs "Harmony Renaissance"
meaning return to better quality of life without the excess materialism and threat
of global ecological disaster. Harmony is the essence of ancient Chinese
teaching and the order of nature. Harmony Renaissance in the current sense is
to return to better quality of life and sustainable development on modern scientific
basis.
During 2002 to cope with the rapid uneven economic and technological
development the Chinese government under Hu Jintao advanced the national
policy of Concept of Scientific Development. I predicted at the time that
Concept of Scientific Development is Harmony Renaissance movement on a
scientific basis. After all, at the very beginning, harmony was a social science
developed by Laotze from observation of natural science. Harmony philosophy
gave China 5000 years of continuity unparalleled in world history despite of
numerous foreign invasions and upheavals caused by peasants rise against
injustice and economic dissatisfaction. Unlike the rest of the world there were
no major religious or ideological wars took place in ancient China. The recent
revolutions and civil wars fought in China were on imported ideologies such as
democracy, socialism and communism. Has anybody asked seriously the
question "Why China through out its long history of the past did not fought over
religions and politics?" Dynasties came and go without the change of political
system. Today Chinese people accepted all religions and did not quarrel over

religions. "Why?" The simple answer is that Chinese people is deep rooted in
their own harmony philosophy. Without harmony, China being the leading
consumer country of the world until Ming dynasty would have destroyed the
world totally ecologically during its long 5000 years of history. The world may
not have a chance to see today’s consumerism racking havoc to our ecological
system.
To bring the world back to sustainable development does not need to mean
regression. With today’s advanced science and technology concerted efforts
without huge war layouts can reasonably managed the energy and resources
crisis. This will herald the third phase of surge of human creative and innovative
energy after the European Renaissance, discussed in my previous essays
contained in this book. Modern day "World Harmony Renaissance" will naturally
be scientifically based, because of our common human scientific heritage of

(D) SCIENTIFIC HARMONY FENGSHUI CAMPAIGN
I proposed in my first harmony book that Harmony is the order of nature and was
evolved from observation of nature beginning with Laotze. Chinese
medicine was also based on Ying Yang dynamic balance within and without the
complex human biological system. Chinese landscaping at its highest form is
exemplified by the harmony of nature and artificial. The most acclaimed
Chinese landscaping are Suzhou gardens and Westlake in Hangzhou.
CAN SCIENCE BASED FENGSHUI INCREASE CREDIBILITY? FEB 4,2007
I mentioned in my book "China's Harmony Renaissance: What the world must

know.", Chinese Fengshui practice is a philosophy of life that places emphasis on
human harmony with nature and his surroundings. Just like human beings
corrupt the pure form of major religions, Fengshui believers also accepted
superstitions. The practitioners of the art of Fengshui would like to keep it that
way. Harmony renaissance calls for return to the scientific base of harmony
living. The credibility of Fengshui, as a Chinese belief, need to be restored to
allow wider acceptance by the main stream. The applicability of Fengshui theory
and practice in our life is unlimited.
How can we restore people's interest in harmony living? That was the original
concept of Fengshui. Just like all professional practices education and licensing
can go a long way to improve quality of service. In Chinese medicine it is
precisely the maintenance of high standards and licensing in acupuncture
practices that gained its acceptance by the U.S. medical profession. The public
is protected and the market widens for all practitioners at the end. Does any
body remember the early history of U.S. medicine when snake oil was a cure all
for medical ailments until private and government concern moved medical
practice to a more scientific level. Believe it or not, only 150 years ago in the U.
S. barbers were doctors and doctors were barbers.. The AMA as an association
raised the standards and put a stop to that.
I am currently discussing with many in the education field to look at introducing

harmony interior and architecture design seminars and courses by bringing
expert practitioners from China. A well worked out program by combining US
design practices with Chinese harmony can truly enrich our life and also make
sales. It may also teach harmony living and philosophy at the same time. Can
health practices be learned along the way also?
A beginning may also be made to study the possibility of licensing examines to

protect the consumers from the inscrutable. It does not necessary need
government regulations. We can form an association of Fengshui practitioners
and harmony believers to initiate the study of need for licensing. After all, the
well known SAT Exams for College Entrance is managed by a private group and

the Security advisers series 6, 7 and other licensing exams and the AMA
Exams. are also managed by its own professional association.
I am throwing this out for all interested to comment and participate. There are a
lot of business opportunities for all in modernizing Fengshui practices as a
harmony way of life. Harmony Fengshui to health is a way of life for the
future. We are at the beginning of Harmony Renaissance. According to an
ancient Chinese saying Fengshui rotates every 60 years, which means family
state of affairs change every 60 years. It is time to put Fengshui on a modern
scientific base to reintroduce it to the world just like we did with acupuncture. All
it need is packaging.

Chinese harmony culture include the practice of Fengshui as a way for man to
harmonize with nature and his surroundings. To promote Sino-American
harmony consensus WHO is planning to launch a major scientific harmony
campaign to introduce Chinese Fengshui theories and practices to the U.S. main
stream. The aim is to seek Harmony consensus in Harmony Fengshui between
American and Chinese practitioners in the field of real estate, building
construction, architecture, interior design, interior decorations and
landscaping. The blend of natural and artificial Fengshui practice is exemplified
by the beauty of Suzhou gardens and Westlake. In China we have the saying
"There is heaven above but there is Suzhou and Hangzhou on Earth". This
campaign was originally conceived in my book "China's harmony renaissance:

Human civilization move together abide not by lock step. We must distinguish
the positive from the negative experiences. When we are discriminating we can
learn from our experiences and adopt the positive results. That is why we learn
history. We do not all relive the same experience and we do not all need to
reinvent the wheel.
From ancient Chinese culture we learned that harmony theories evolving from
order of nature worked for a long period of Chinese history. Harmony addresses
multifaceted dynamic imbalances including ecology and all human
relations. Harmony also includes democracy but China for centuries choose to
manage democracy by moral teaching. Law was only the bottom line but moral
value was above it. European Renaissance was a great experience although
there is still criticism of certain excesses of the period. From it the world learned
the importance of democracy and the energy released led to today's modern
science and technology. America since its independence choose to manage
democracy by emphasizing law and order.

Both Chinese harmony and American Democracy as developed are our common
human heritage and belong to the world now. We also learned form China's
cultural revolution that greater democracy without law and order did not
work. With today's extremism expressed through fundamentalism and the
resulting confrontations we must brought back harmony theories. Terrorist
movements are extremism so is Bush's Iraq policy and certain extreme Christian
fundamentalism. The world does not need a modern equivalent of the ten year
Crusade war. That is why World Harmony Organization is calling for Harmony
Renaissance to resolve today's world conflicts and imbalances through
discussions, consultations and reaching harmony consensus. Today's harmony
renaissance has the advantage of modern science and communication
advances. Concerted World effort can be easily directed to combine the East
and West experience in harmony and democracy and bring about new release of

My attorney friend, Leon Jew, yesterday brought to my attention that a certain

Mr. Liu is advocating Cultural Renaissance for China in "Southern Weekend"
journal and creating a stir. His main premise was that China needed to relive
the European Renaissance. His theories were misguided, muddled
and was one more form of extreme fundamentalism that neither China nor the
world needs. The world does not need to relive any cultural revolutions or
extreme movements. We are well on the path of mutual development and
harmony development. With the positive experience of Western democracy and
China's ancient harmony the world has more than enough sound scientific
principles to build a better world and a more harmonious world. Mr. Liu's
theories were not worth the paper he used to wrote on. He will soon be
discarded by history and forgotten. That is why I refer him in the past
tense. The world has learned from past extreme cultural and religious
movements that stability is necessary for mutual development and harmony
development. Mr. Liu was just another trouble maker. We should accept him
for what he was. What was his name?

I have discussed the preparation for our own World
Harmony Renaissance Magazine with some of you. It is necessary for an
important advocacy to have its own voice. I hope I will get more support from
you. We all know of the story of the Foolish old man who wanted to move the
mountain that was blocking the progress of the village.. A friend reminded me
that I am that old man. Well, I have no regrets, because harmony will work its
way through generations.
I also thought of having World Harmony Watch column among many columns in
our magazine. The idea is to report on major countries activities
to promote world harmony. Details of the Six nations denuclearizing
pact coming out last two days are very encouraging. It clearly shows that the
two strong contending sides are giving ground and reached some consensus
through long painful discussions and consultations. This is how harmony works
through discussions, consultations and consensus. Until the announcement

yesterday the accord all seemed but impossible. Not so long ago our President
Bush called North Korea part of the "Axis of Evil".
This major world event may not receive the attention it deserves. But from
World Harmony Renaissance perspective this may spark a series of events that
signal the beginning of harmony at East Asia. By implementing the Nuclear
Disarmament Pact U.S., China, Russia, Japan, South and North will have to help
North Korea recover. That means major countries across both sides of the
pacific will work together for mutual development. North East
Asia development have a lot of potential.
North Korea's economic stagnation dated from Korean War some 50 years ago
may see a way out. The Accord calls for "Within 30 days: Five separate working
groups meet on denuclearizing, normalizing U.S.-North Korea relations,
normalizing of North Korea-Japan relations, economy and energy cooperation,
and peace and security in Northeast Asia."
This would have been real juicy material for our World Harmony Watch Column
to break the news, should we have our own World Harmony Renaissance mega
zine. I would have reported with a lot more enthusiasm than the U.S. press for
sure. Be what it may, this proved the importance of World Harmony Watch
column to give the fair historical perspective and the whole aftermath of the cold
war era. Some of you may still remember the cold war confrontation era. As
momentous as those years were the left over effect may be solved by the
necessity of mutual and harmonious development.
Need for mutual development will pave the way for a more harmonious
world. Solution for uniting North and South Korea, Between China and Taiwan
will be the promise of mutual development. Unification of West and East
Germany and the return of Hong Kong to China both situations showed that the
aftermath of cold war era can easily be forgotten and harmony of feuding
brothers can be achieved.

Thank you for your encouragement. America's misiion is also WHO's mission. I
look forward to your continuing support. The following is actually my answer to
the FAQ what can WHO do?
Ancient cultures approximately 2500 years ago or earlier, when there were not
even clearly defined national boundaries of today, developed modern religions,
democracy and harmony. These human heritage were cultivated over hundreds
of years through graduate development. Some were lost and were rediscovered,
such as democracy and harmony. The rediscovery of democracy through
European Renaissance brought the release of energy that herald the advent of
modern scientific age.
America, the dynamic young nation did not have the same time history. Our
mission has come to be the nation of advocacy. We advocated modern religion
and European democracy. We are the nation that has the most resources and
diverse ethnicity to advocate. I learned advocacy in America. It took me fifty
years. With today's international conflicts, religious strife, terrorism, unilateralism,
North and South disparity and ecology concerns, it is time for America to
advocate World Harmony Renaissance. Harmony belongs to the world but we
have the most resources to initiate it's renaissance.
The good news in international affairs are, our envoy is talking to North Korea
about normalization of relations and Rice will be participating at the Middle East
Conference. The announcement of six party talks to proceed with North Korea
Nuclear conflict resolution clearly indicated accommodation on both sides. The
theme of my article at that time was "Beginning of Harmony Renaissance at the
Eastern Front?" After all the Far East was the cradle of basic harmony
practice through individual discipline and family unity. The middle East was the
cradle of harmony through the submission of human will to the creator. European
Renaissance brought harmony between the government and its citizen by
reviving ancient Greek democracy. America's independence advocated
democracy through law and order.
America, the most dynamic major new power, is the country with the most
resources to advocate Harmony Renaissance. Our mission is to lead through
advocacy and not military power. The conflicts of the world, religious strife and
ecology concerns of today tell us the need to be more tolerant, accepting, and
respecting of other cultures and our common heritage. The way to solve world
conflicts is through discussions, consultation and consensus and that is the
harmony way. Harmony is reached through dynamic balance. Where there is
unsustainable imbalance, harmony will work its way. Nature's order is harmony

and harmony is the order of nature. Human beings are intelligent individuals. We
can solve our ecology concerns when we practice harmony together.
Harmony Renaissance can be advocated at all levels and through all types of
institutions by education, communication and cultural exchanges. It must also be

festivities be held at the San Francisco Bay Area, after all UN was originally

(IV)THE ULTIMATE PERSONAL HARMONY PRACTICE
AND WORLD HARMONY RENAISSNCE
In the following discussion, for our purpose, self discipline and inner peace can
be interchanged. Another way to define inner peace is self discipline through
the practice of harmony. There are many diverse ways of achieving inner
peace; this is also one of the principles of harmony. For example, some achieve
inner peace through scholarly accomplishments or higher goals in commerce,
religion, and philanthropy. Ultimately, for lasting inner peace, one must practice
sustainable self discipline. For self discipline to work it must be a consistent
process and sustainable through life. Relying on outside stimulation is not
sustainable through life.
To sustain self discipline, one need to combine higher goals with some form of
regular personal practice such as writing with a theme, calligraphy, meditation,
yoga, Taichi, dancing, singing, or contemplating nature and beauty. For most
people it usually is a combination of diverse methods. There is no one single
solution. In a world of diverse cultures, harmony opens a world of diverse self
discipline practices.
For myself, I complement my self discipline with harmony belief and regular
Taichi practices. I have been at it for over thirty years. Frankly, self discipline
with harmony has been more difficult to achieve than many of my other career
undertakings. It is my final challenge. Taichi, which means ultimate in Chinese,
is a form of moving meditation, and self defense. Taichi embraces the ultimate
harmony principle of soft conquers hard. In Taichi you yield but maintain your
balance and your conviction in the ultimate harmony principle. This conviction is
hard to maintain in life when force and war often temporarily succeed. But the
dark (invisible) energy in the eternal universe proves that Ying (the soft) contains
Yang (the hard).
Harmony and Taichi yielding to absorb confrontation does not mean giving up
nor defeatist belief. Far from it, harmony is an advocacy and everlasting, just
like the universe. As a fluid mechanics major, I imaging myself as moving like a
fluid when practice Taichi. Fluid, the softest material, in the form of water and air
goes around what is in their way and eventually wears out the hardest
object. While they are blocked they will continually build up their resistance to
overcome. Water can float and sink the mightiest ship. Air as light as it is, can
lift and detail spin the biggest air borne vehicle human can conceive.
Harmony, as order of dynamic balance, advocates soft overcomes hard and Ying
contains Yang. When harmony is practiced like the motions of fluids it instills
that conviction. Coupled with personal consistent practice like Taichi,
meditation, or yoga, harmony can be sustaining. In Chinese teaching there is a
saying "XIU SHEN, QI JIA, ZI GUO, PING TIEN ZIA". In today's conflicting
world the appropriate translation is "Self discipline, Family unity, Democracy,

World Harmony". In world culture it is also important to quote "Be proud you are
citizens of the world and not citizens of one country".
The essence of Eastern self discipline is to reach harmony with nature. In

Chinese the ancient saying is "Tien Ren He Yi" meaning the unity of man and
nature or man and universe. In this practice traditionally, the Eastern culture
placed more emphasis on moral values and avoiding extremism. The West
inherited moral teachings through Eastern religions. This basic harmony value
of avoiding extremism together with family unity and ancestry worship
continued Chinese culture of 5000 years without causing ecology
catastrophe, despite certain excesses of the past.
The advent of European and American democracy heralded the age of modern
science and cultural Renaissance. But it eventually encouraged individualism,
insatiable consumerism and extremism in the absence of individual personal
harmony practice. In today's conflicting world of 6 billion population and
increasing, each person on earth wanting to own a SUV or HUMVEE is a form of
insatiable extreme consumerism. Simple arithmetic will show this type of
extreme consumerism unchecked places unsustainable demand on our common
world resources.
Cultural excesses of insatiable consumerism and individualism in the West and

its spread to the East now needs to be balanced by Eastern harmony,
moderation and family values. This means bringing back basic family and group
harmony through practice of self discipline. As well meaning as Western law and
order democracy is, our world is not sustainable with the spread of today's
insatiable consumerism and extreme individualism Traditionally in China as
detailed in my book "China's Harmony Renaissance: What the World Must Know"
law is the bottom line, common moral values above it. By necessity we need to
bring back self discipline, mutual development and harmony development. The
premise and title of this book is "World Harmony Renaissance: Promise for a
Better World"
It is paramount that the world through Harmony Renaissance must reach

meaningful World Harmony Consensus. The current continuing rapid
development of China, India and the rest of the developing world must be
encouraged to adopt "Harmony Development" through personal individual self
discipline. The West and parts of the developed Asia at the same time need to
set an example to curb extreme individualism and consumerism. Within the
frame work of this 'World Harmony Consensus" we will see the promise of a
more sustainable and better world, Q.E.D.
Q.E.D. is a Latin term meaning it is demonstrated or proved which I vaguely

remembered from my high school geometry class. During my childhood
enthusiasm that all things Western were good including Western mathematics
and Science, Q.E.D. came to mean with modern science everything is quite
easily done. Frankly reaching World Harmony consensus for Harmony

Now that we have service trade marks and other legal registrations in place, I
propose that we firm up our previous discussions to launch a large scale all day
INTERNATIONAL music and dance performance festival. The theme will be
World Harmony Renaissance pure and simple. It will be first of its kind world
event to be continued annually and with future engagements in other major world
cities. The event will raise long term funding for World Harmony Ambassadors
and World Harmony Volunteer Corps.
All activities of World Harmony Organization by Charter will be unity in diversity

events, by nature necessarily non political, non religious and non profit. We
welcome participation and financial contributions by various major Silicone
Valley corporations and institutions, included are also various Embassies,
religious and NGO organizations and foundations.
I suggest the first event be held sometime this Fall at the San Francisco State
University Campus Green. SFSU is the birthplace of the first World Harmony

launched in San Francisco on Saturday, with a call on all countries to promote world

It is my pleasure to announce the steering committee meeting for World Harmony

Renaissance Day International Cultural Festival which will be held June,
2007. It will be the first major event of its kind to promote World Harmony
Renaissance as a consensus to solve today's world conflicts, disparities and
ecology concerns.

CALL FOR WORLD HARMONY DAY CULTURAL
FESTIVAL WORKING MEETING (MARCH, 15,2007)
Dear Working Team Members,
Some of you active members already have developed pieces by thinking through
your ideas from your past experience. We have experts in marketing, large
event planning, some are strong on evening events and some have done all day
events and actual hands on experts in ruining performances. Every body is on a
different speed now. I am used to running my own business so I am good at
facilitating. The small meetings I am coordinating in my last email by no means
replace the regular meetings that I have with some of you. In fact it will
intensify. Because the small group meetings are called to put the pieces
together so we will all move towards our final goal. We are not moving in lock
step now but we will when we begin to see the complete picture. It is my
responsibility for us all to see the complete picture even our harmony vision are
from our own perspective. The underlying unifying force is harmony.
Some said we have world religion day, earth day, Martin Luther King day etc. By
now they are all enterprises on their own. There are also prolific numbers of
freedom, democracy and conflict resolution foundations, think tanks and
NGO's. World harmony renaissance is the only one universal common human
value that is truly all embracing and all inclusive. In view of today's national
conflicts, disparities, unilateralism, terrorism, extremism and ecology concerns
World Harmony Renaissance is the coming tide of human development. It will
release our concerted creative energy by bringing us to a higher plane of
common human value.
In pursuing World Harmony Renaissance we must be independent and truly

international and not relying on any one country. Even though we are all
Americans and we are launching the first World Harmony Day from San
Francisco. When we do our first World Harmony Day Cultural Festival right it
does not have to be big, we will be in an enviable position to pick and choose
sponsors. There will be no lack of Corporate, foundation and individual funding
according to Spencer. I agree whole heartedly.
Life is full of meaningful campaigns for some of us. During the 60's, as a fluid
mechanics major, I was swept up in "Catching up with Russia" rocket and
satellite research. In the 70's, during the declining aerospace years, I did key
research in establishing large scale fire safety computer standardized building
material tests, computer smoke propagation simulation to establish smoke
detector codes and standards. During the 80's I co-founded Aerophyics
Company and Finance and Technology Associates and was active in
International energy conservation technology transfer. My publication list on our
website reflects U.S. national waves of priority like a road map.

Of late I am more cultural than scientific. My recent campaigns include peace
painting exhibitions, distribution of top quality music Cd's and publishing of
Harmony Renaissance essays worldwide. That is why some of you get little gifts
of Song of Shangri-La album and Ting Shao Kwong posters. My World Harmony
Renaissance lectures appear locally as well as worldwide through Xinhua
Net and World Affairs Journal announcements. I have come to know famous
artists, calligraphers, distinguished Western authors and record companies. All
my past endeavors and undertakings will add value to our World Harmony Day
Cultural Festival. I will not disappoint you.
I have been hearing great ideas from some of you. It is time to put some of the
ideas together and brain storm. Our tentative date for World Harmony is third
week of September when school is in session. If later, it needs to stay clear of
Oct 1 and Oct. 10. WHO must remain clearly an independent NGO pursuing
World Harmony Renaissance with unbiased spirit of advocacy. World Harmony
Journal, our own voice, when launched will monitor justly international Harmony
development. Harmony is the highest human common value, together
with justice, trustworthiness and self discipline harmony can be maintained. In
the U.S. democracy is maintained by relying heavily on law and order. Harmony
Renaissance will need increasing education and self discipline. See our website

Because some of you do travel on a regular basis we may have to settle on

separate meetings during the month of April. I will be diligent in collecting all
your valuable ideas and come up with an action program. By now from the
frequency of my emails nobody need to ever feel slighted. By the way, if you
have not visited our website regularly you will find it has been updated many
times by your inputs. I assure you good ideas will be seriously
considered. Please also never hesitate to communicate with me.

Harmony. America is the best place to advocate Harmony Renaissance

Dear Senior Advisers,
It is time for America to Advocate World Harmony Renaissance !
What sells moves forward with human development. Those who are left behind
will have to fend for themselves. As a reminder for those only remember the
come and go of Dot com boom of the 1990's, how about the aerospace and
energy conservation booms from 1960 to 1980. Booms generally go through
phases.
What will be the next boom? I predict it will be Harmony Renaissance for world
sustainable development. This time It will be a sustained boom to bring us out of
the current international conflicts, religious strife and ecology
concerns. Sustained Harmony Renaissance will bring human to a higher level of
common value and a higher world scientific accomplishments beyond 17th
century European Renaissance. In the 21st century most of us who care, will be
working for Harmony Renaissance, because it is an universal all encompassing
human common ideal. Harmony accepts different religions, political systems
and diverse cultures. It also seeks the dynamic balance of man and nature,
which is ecology. The best political system for any country is its own harmony
system.
The time is here for Multinational Corporations(MC) to put on inclusive harmony

images. They need to tell developing countries they care. All major MC's
practiced exclusive schemes such as trade marks (Coco Cola, McDonald),
Patents (GE, Boeing), Software (Microsoft, Google) and so on. Their exclusivity
gave them legal right to practice monopoly before developing countries can catch
up. Because of the extreme disparity North and South, the under developed
countries are restive. This is part of the underlying dissatisfaction that breeds
terrorism and defiance and not they are evil. The most encompassing inclusive
image for MC's is to practice World Harmony. WHO and I have the credential
and preparation to launch World Harmony Days, World Harmony Ambassadors
and World Harmony Volunteers programs. By participating in WHO harmony
programs MC's inclusive image can be enhanced.
WHO will proactively pursuit our service marked harmony programs. Action is
louder than words. MC's will come along and participate because our programs
can enhance and add value to their image. Our marketing letters can be simple
and sweet. The following are just details on my background.
The energy crisis brought about by the APEC oil embargo during the 1970's and
1980's ushered in a flourish of energy conservation scientific activities like we
have never seen in the U.S. Today's call for climate control by energy
conservation has yet to reach that fever pitch. It was a great opportunity for us
fluid mechanics majors of the time to divert our creativity to help solve the energy
crisis.

During the 1960's Rockets and Satellites days I was with Cornell Aeronautics
Lab. and Johns Hopkins University publishing papers in the exotic fields
of Magnetodynamics and Zero Gravity Phenomenon. Once Neil Armstrong
landed on the moon in July 20,1969 the whole U.S. let out a collective sigh, we
have caught up with Russia in the space race. We fluid mechanics majors were
left scrambling for new undertakings.
On the first day of formally launching World Harmony Organization, Jan. 20,
2007 in San Francisco, we announced "World Harmony Consensus Begins with
U.S.-China Harmony" in red, white, blue and yellow unity in diversity

I have always advocated U.S.-China Harmony for over 50 years. During the late
50's at Brown University, International Club, I organized U.S. China Friendship
seminars by inviting famous speakers. One of the meetings was high lighted in
a story about Professor Williams of Dept. of International Studies. Please refer
to my second book on harmony "World Harmony Renaissance:Promise for a
Better World" to read how world politics is changing for the better
through international friendship advocacy.
Beginning the late 70's my wife Julia and I are the earliest supporters of U.S.
China People Friendship Association and participated in U.S.-China Relation
normalization.
U.S.-China harmony is reflected in our bi cultural family. Our children are of

mixed East and West races. Please visit our website

"World Harmony Renaissance Begins with U.S. China Harmony
Consensus". Our Children's Chinese names Aimei, Anhua and Aimin meaning
Love America, Stability in China and Love Humanity. Moving with the tides of
history their names reflect the growth of our longing for Friendship, Stability and
Harmony. Our three children, two are now practicing medicine in the U.S. and
our youngest daughter specializes in East and West dance fusion. I hope she
will agree to perform in World Harmony Day Cultural Festival for a long time to
come.
During the 1980's in the after shock of Oil Embargo. Energy

conservation urgency launched the first wave of ecology movement
in America to harmonize with nature. Today's climate control ecology
movement is only the second wave. It has yet to reach the fever pitch of the late
70's. In my humble effort I co-founded Aerophysics Company with senior
members Gabriel Bohler and Eugene Liberator. They were true believers in
energy conservation. They advocated large scale cross ocean surface effects
ships (SES) to compete with air freight transport. Liberator was the editor in
chief in Jane's Ship of the World on Service Effect Ships. I headed the Energy

Division and together we transferred French technology on district heating and
large scale diffusion fans for ocean going SES to U.S. Regretfully the
Aerophysic 50 million dollar Navy service effect ship energy conservation project
was zeroed out by Regan in 1982 with the money diverted to Star War project
instead.
Large SES will eventually take over aircrafts as energy efficient ocean transport
by far and Dr.Bohler and Liberator's pioneer spirit will live on. Liberator also
wrote Liberator Manifesto to advocate his theory of Omnibus Government for
more harmony. I learned a great deal from him. After Aerophyics, my energy
conservation career continued. Among other high lights, I co-founded Finance
and Technology Associates a premier and early consulting firm that acted as
bridge to build relation between China and U.S. multinational corporations.
Together with Dr. Beno Sternlicht, then MTI Chairman, we transferred significant
Stirling Engine technology to China. It culminated in the 2ND International
Conference on Stirling Engines in 1984 with me delivering the keynote speech
"The Promising Future of Stirling Engines in China". For the latest, one can read
about the Victorville,CA 500 megawatts Stirling Engine Utility Plant build for
Southern California Edison. When come on line in 2009, it will be the largest
non polluting, solar utility plant in the world, supplying electricity for 300,000
families with 20,000 solar Stirling Engines.

I have been following the recent development of Stirling Engine

Application in electricity generation using solar power. I am happy to
learn of your Victorville Project, the 500 megawatt utility plant build for
Southern California Edison in today's SF Chronicle. Congratulations
for a major and possibly the largest solar ecology project well earned
and deserving applause. My Stirling Solar Energy connection goes
way back. Together with Beno Sternlicht, then Chairman of MTI, our
group transferred important Stirling Engine technology to Shanghai
Marine Diesel Engine Research Institute during the 1980’s. The
activities culminated in the holding of the Second International
Conference on Stirling Engines in Shanghai, China on June 21-24,
1984. I gave the keynote speech “The Promising Future of Stirling
Engines in China” with emphasis on solar electricity generation in
remote and rural areas.

Harmony Renaissance through large scale annual World Harmony

the FAQ what can WHO do?
Ancient cultures approximately 2500 years ago or earlier, when there were
not even clearly defined national boundaries of today, developed modern
religions, democracy and harmony. These human heritages were cultivated
over hundreds of years through graduate development. Some were lost and
were rediscovered, such as democracy and harmony. The rediscovery of
democracy through European Renaissance brought the release of energy that
herald the advent of modern scientific age.
America, the dynamic young nation did not have the same time history. Our
mission has come to be the nation of advocacy. We advocated
modern religion and European democracy. We are the nation that has the
most resources and diverse ethnicity to advocate. I learned advocacy in
America. It took me fifty years. With today's international conflicts,
religious strife, terrorism, unilateralism, North and South disparity and
ecology concerns, it is time for America to advocate World Harmony
Renaissance. Harmony belongs to the world but we have the most resources
to initiate it's renaissance.

The good news in international affairs are, our envoy is talking to North
Korea about normalization of relations and Rice will be participating at the
Middle East Conference. The announcement of six party talks to proceed
with North Korea Nuclear conflict resolution clearly indicated
accommodation on both sides. The theme of my article at that time was
"Beginning of Harmony Renaissance at the Eastern Front?" After all the Far
East was the cradle of basic harmony practice through individual discipline
and family unity. The middle East was the cradle of harmony through the
submission of human will to the creator. European Renaissance brought
harmony between the government and its citizen by reviving ancient Greek
democracy. America 's independence advocated democracy through law and
order.
America , the most dynamic major new power, is the country with the most
resources to advocate Harmony Renaissance. Our mission is to lead through
advocacy and not military power. The conflicts of the world, religious strife
and ecology concerns of today tell us the need to be more tolerant,
accepting, and respecting of other cultures and our common heritage. The
way to solve world conflicts is through discussions, consultation and
consensus and that is the harmony way. Harmony is reached through
dynamic balance. Where there is unsustainable imbalance, harmony will
work its way. Nature's order is harmony and harmony is the order of
nature. Human beings are intelligent individuals. We can solve our ecology
concerns when we practice harmony together.
Harmony Renaissance can be advocated at all levels and through all types of
institutions by education, communication and cultural exchanges. It must
also be grown at the grass root levels through group activities such as World
Harmony Renaissance Day Cultural Festival. I suggest that the first World
Harmony Day festivities be held at the San Francisco Bay Area, after all UN
was originally conceived here. Do we have consensus to initiate the first
World Harmony Renaissance Day?
Harmony belongs to the world. It is our common heritage and common

value. It's revival will bring human to the next level of accomplishment
by diverting our creative energy now mired in conflicts, strife and wars. We
will have consensus to advocate Harmony Renaissance when we work in
concert. Unity in diversity is harmony and together we will have
conviction. Be proud you are citizens of the world and not citizens of one
country.
