III. We identify the agents of our oppression as men.

Male supremacy is the olde st, most basic form of domination. All other forms of exploitation and oppressio n (racism, capitalism, imperialism, etc.) are extensions of male supremacy: men dominate women; a few men dominate the rest. All power structures throughout his tory have been male-dominated and male-oriented. Men have controlled all politic al, economic and cultural institutions and backed up this control with physical force. They have used their power to keep women in an inferior position. All men receive economic, sexual, and psychological benefits from male supremacy. All m en have oppressed women. This is the third point of Redstockings manifesto of 1969. We have to go back several years ago to understand how we arrived here analysing at least in part the story of the protest movement that from the end of the 60s involved million people of different sex races and ethnicities, including also an important part of the feminist movement of a second wave" The '60s were known worldwide for the ideals that characterized that period and that led to the growth of movements that were attended mainly by young people. The first student demonstration took place in 1964 in the U.S. with the occupati on of the Berkeley Univeristy, California. The students demanded freedom of speech to criticize methods of teaching and dis cuss those that were the biggest problems in society. The first problem was find ing financial resources for universities. 35% of the funds were given by the Min istry of Defense exclusively to realize special researches related to the war in Vietnam. The most serious problem was that the use of the regular soldiers and conscripts was not enough. Many boys were summoned to military bases and, after a brief tr aining, were sent to death in the battlefield. In the area of San Francisco in the 1966 began to develop the Hippy movement . Hippies started to assemble and get together to discuss above the problems in be ing part of a consumerist society in which spirituality was marginalize. They also didn t accept to be led by individuals who were only interested in economy and war. The revolt of students overlap the revolt of people of color, especially blacks. The movement was led by the Baptist pastor Martin Luther King. In that period the student movement and the black are intertwined to the peace m ovement of the New Left, and the growing protest against the war in Vietnam, you can understand why the United States found themselves on the brink of civil war . As already mentioned a fundamental part of the American protest was the feminist movement. A new feminism, called radical, was born between 1968 and 1969; its goal was to make it to the 'roots' of male dominance on women.
