Ki Teitzei 2012
The Torah portion this week, Ki Teitzei/When You Go Out, covering Deuteronomy 21:10-25:19 is one that can almost be overwhelming due to the amount of different commandments listed covering an array of subjects! In fact, no less than 74 of the 613 commandments are found in Ki Teitzei, the most of all the Torah portions! From the start, were instantly thrown into some commands that can be difficult to understand how it applies to the house today. The portion begins with the rules regarding a woman captured in battle and how she could become a wife and part of Israel. Deuteronomy 21:10-13 When: Strongs #3588 kiy because, when, for; = palm of the hand/soles of the feet & = suffix meaning his His hands *Isaiah 49:16 Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of [my] hands; thy walls [are] continually before me. Walls: Strongs #2346 chowmah wall, from an unused root meaning to join Continually: Strongs #8548 tamiyd continuity, perpetuity, to stretch; root = completeness and integrity Goest Forth: Strongs #3318 yatsa to go out, come out, exit, go forth; can also mean captivity, going forth from ones homeland into exile *Here the word is conjugated as teitzei and with the Tav prefix = you will, she will, or they will; inferring something in the future! In the future, she (the Bride) would go into exile/captivity, literally becoming the very woman spoken of in this passage, but because we are engraved upon the palms of His hands, the desire to be joined (chowmah) with one who would complete Him (tamiyd) would always be before Him! *The first part of this phrase, ki also forms #3587 burning, branding, to scar or mark, to disfigure as opposed to beauty; from #3554 kavah to burn, scorch, or brand; its a word play with the name Chavvah Eve In other words, there would be one that would be scarred, marked, and disfigured in order for the Eve/Chavvah to be joined with Him again! This same message is seen in the heavens as well concerning this time frame! The constellational sign assigned to this month of Elul, the 6th month, is Virgo/Bethulah, the virgin or virtuous woman, but one of the signs found within this house is Centaurus, but in Hebrew titled Bezeh meaning The Despised

and the Greek name is Cheiron meaning The Pierced Once again our focus is called to the fact that one was despised on our behalf so that we could be the Bethulah! This is the 49th portion of the year. 49 = 7 x 7, 7 = completion/completeness, fullness, perfection, number of covenant; 49th verse in the Torah is Genesis 2:18 And Yahweh Elohim said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a help meet for him. Could it be that Adam (a type of Messiah) would not be complete unless he had a helpmeet who had entered into covenant with him? This is exactly what Isaiah told us as well, and this is why the captive woman is given a chance to go through this process to become the one that completes her husband! *Our responsibility then during this time is to understand what it means to be the help meet to the one who was disfigured to redeem us! Help Meet: Strongs #5828 ezer help; from #5826 azar to help, support; the primary idea lies in girding, surrounding, hence defending. One who would gird, surround, and therefore defend would be the one to complete the Adam! For Him: Strongs #5048 neged what is conspicuous, what is in front of, before your face, in sight of; from #5046 nagad to tell, make known, to declare, proclaim 2 letter root = forming the name Gad (#1410) troop, the tribe thats associated with this 6th month of Elul; could it be that this month is when we are presented with the opportunity to become the ezer knegdo, the one who completes Him and it is during this time frame that He will declare/proclaim/make known who she is? I believe so!

The Bride & War

Notice the connections that are coming up between being the one who completes the Messiah and warfare! The helpmeet is one who girds, surrounds, and defends and it is in this month of Elul, associated with struggles, and the tribe of Gad a troop (from the root guwd to invade, to attack; in other words a troop ready for battle), that we are given a chance to go through this process to become a bride. *What does it mean to gird and surround? In Hebrew the term for gird is Strongs #2296 chagar to gird, gird on, gird oneself, put on a belt; used in reference to girding yourself with weapons of war (Deut. 1:41, Jdg. 18:11) Weapons: Strongs #3627 keliy article, vessel, implement, utensil; from #3615 kalah to accomplish, cease, be complete, be finished; this is also the root of the word kallah meaning bride

*We complete Him by becoming a bride of war! Gematria of chagar = 211, same value as hadavar the word in order to do this it requires us to be familiar, have an intimate knowledge of, the Word! In fact the first letter of ezer is the to see, know, and understand; attached to the seed/Word to be the ezer we must see, know, and understand His Word! This portion as well deals with going forth to war! War: Strongs #4421 milchamah war, battle; from #3898 lacham to fight, do battle, make war; to eat, use as food; its the root of the word lechem bread. Breaking this term down you see the word cham (heat, passion) within the word millah word, speech, utterance (in other words a word that would feed/appease their fleshly passions) *As one who has been in captivity/exiled, we now have the opportunity to either go forth towards the bread/lechem (a reference to the Torah) or we can choose to feed upon the words that appease our flesh! Yet we are reminded that the Messiah is searching for one who is full of integrity/complete/perfect ( ) 2 Samuel 22:35 & Psalm 18:34 He teacheth my hands to war; so that a bow of steel is broken by mine arms. Bow: Strongs #7198 qesheth bow; same term used to describe the bow in the clouds (rainbow) that was set as a sign of the Covenant = to surround and encircle & #8353) = )six, connecting it right back to the 6th month of Elul; also shares the same 2 letter root as #7897 garment *Both the 6th month and this portion are bringing attention to whatever garment is encircling/surrounding us! Elul is all about preparing for the Fall Feasts and having your Bridal garments made ready. And in this portion, vs. 13 And she shall put the raiment of her captivity from off her Raiment: Strongs #8071 simlah wrapper, mantle, covering, garment; notice the 3 letter root word (also part of the root for war/milchamah!); from #5566 cemel image, statue, idol; from an unused root meaning to resemble Our garments take on the image of whatever were housing within/underneath (1 John 3:2 Beloved, now are we the sons of Elohim, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.), its a tell tale sign of what covenant weve chosen to be joined to! And in order to be a bride of war, one who completes the Mashiach, it requires us to be housing the

millah/the Word! *A change of garments could indicate a new beginning! Steel: Strongs #5154 nechuwshah copper, bronze; from #5127 nachash to practice divination, divine or observe signs, learn by experience; its the root of the word for serpent/nachash (#5175) Arms: Strongs #2220 zerowa arm, forearm, strength; its also the title given to the shank bone of the lamb on the seder plate of Passover! From #2232 zara to sow, scatter seed *Hes teaching our hands to war and inspecting our garments so that we can have a new beginning with the covenant that was made with the nachash/serpent being broken. Its the changing of the garments of this captive woman that marks her as one that now stands in opposition and wars against the serpent, choosing instead to join with the zerowa and house His seed/His millah/Word! This is reiterated as well in the opening verse of this parshah! In the Hebrew there is 45 letters within this first verse. 45 = Adam I will blood you (represents the blood covering/garment offered for us pointing us back to the one who was disfigured on our behalf) & Lot covering (represents the fleshly carnal covering). The captive woman (the potential bridal candidates) are faced with a choice of whether or not to keep their covering of the flesh, or to circumcise the heart and take on the covering of the blood! Now, lets continue to take a closer look into this parshah! Deuteronomy 21:11-12 Shave: Strongs #1548 galach to poll, to shave, shave off, or to be bald; 1 (#1530) = )a heap or pile or rocks, a heap of rocks could indicate the ratification of a covenant or agreement 2) a wave, billow, spring; it indicates the bride as a barred spring, a spring sealed up (Songs 4:12) describing her chastity. = formed by the & being connected by a line/bridge at the top, a picture of the Groom and Bride standing under the chuppah! Gematria = 41, same as #3867 lavah to join, be joined, as in a husband being joined to his wife When the captive woman shaved her head it was symbolic of the covenant being ratified and accepted, a covenant that would take her and transform her into a spring sealed up, the virtuous woman! All of this was preparing her for being joined to her Groom under the chuppah! Its the same shadow pictures found within the month of Elul! *With her head being shaved it once again calls our attention to the 4

significance of hair in the Torah and its symbolism of our covering. By shaving her head, she was showing her willingness to remove her former covering that she had been under, a covering of another husband. Pare: Strongs #6213 asah to do, fashion, accomplish, make, to repair; = to see, know, understand & = lamb *She sees, knows, and understands the covering now offered to her via the lamb that will cause her to be repaired! Nails: Strongs #6856 tsipporen fingernail, stylus, point; from #6852 tsaphar to depart early, to go early; its the same root as the name Zipporah the wife of Mosheh. This leads us into an interesting direction because in Exodus 4:25 Then Zipporah took a sharp stone, and cut off the foreskin of her son, and cast [it] at his feet, and said, Surely a bloody husband [art] thou to me. *She circumcises her son Gershom: Strongs #1647 foreigner; from #1644 garash to drive out, expel, cast out, drive away, to divorce Cast: Strongs #5060 naga to touch, reach, strike; used in Genesis 3:3 But of the fruit of the tree which [is] in the midst of the garden, Elohim hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch/naga it, lest ye die. *And its the same term used to describe how they strike/naga the doorposts with the lambs blood in Egypt! Here with the captive woman, another step on this journey to become a bride, we are reminded of the need to circumcise our hearts because we have been under another covering, weve been touching the wrong tree! Like Zipporah, we as well must cut away the flesh that causes us to be driven out and expelled and strike the doorposts with the blood of the Lamb, the one that repairs and restores to us another garment! This potential bride would be taken from the captives: Strongs #7633 shibyah captivity, captives; from #7628 shebiy captivity, captives, yet this also forms the phrase my return ( = shuv, root of teshuva, to return and repent & = my), this portion deals with how we make teshuva just as the month of Elul is the time of teshuva!
