the market research firm International Data Corp., the preliminary findings provide a useful snapshot of an industry on the rise. Approximately 30,000 workers are employed by electronics recycling firms, although the survey found most firms had fewer than 50 employees each. Computer equipment made up 60 percent of the e-scrap handled by the 174 surveyed firms. The CTIA Wireless Association, a trade group representing the mobile communications industry, has launched a new website that provides tips on how consumers can be more environmentally responsible, including how they can recycle their old electronics.
