Elementary School Principals Pam Smith T-SHIRT DESIGN CONTEST associated with the 25th ANNUAL C-FB I.S.D. MATH COMPETITION! September 7, 2012

Each year, the T-Shirt Design Contest, which promotes the C-FB I.S.D. Math Competition, kicks off the competition and adds to the excitement of the event. If possible, please announce the design contest the week of September 10, 2012. The dates and rules regarding the t-shirt design contest can be announced to the students by their principal, a Math Competition Coach, the art teacher, Elementary Math Coach/Specialist or someone designated by the campus principal. The art work, submitted by any elementary student, should reflect a math theme that can be used to promote this years 25th Annual District Math Competition! Given that this is the 25th year for the math competition, the t-shirt designs should incorporate this into the art work for the shirt. The winning design will be printed on t-shirts that will be provided to those participating in the competition (i.e. students, Math Competition Coaches and volunteers). Everyone is encouraged to wear their t-shirt to the Math Competition (Saturday, November 10, 2012). Judging criteria for the art work/design includes: Originality Creativity Relevance Neatness Overall idea

The rules for the designs are as follows: All students (kindergarten through grade 5) are eligible to participate in the design contest. Students may submit art work as individuals ONLY! No team or class entries will be accepted! Students may work on their designs at home, in their art class or classroom, if permitted by their teachers. Specifications for the art work/design: o Paper Size: submitted on 8 x 11, white paper only. o Colors: No more than three colors may be used on a design. (If the color black is used, it will be considered one of the three colors.) A committee of three adults, from your campus, should judge the individual art work. The committee should include the principal, a parent and another school employee. The designs should be judged by numbers only! (No names!) Until the final decision is made by the committee, only the local contest director (designated by the principal) should know the identity of the artist. Each school will determine a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winner. The winners will receive ribbons at their home campus. (The ribbons will be furnished by the Educational Services Division after the winning design from that school has been submitted.) The winning design from each campus should be submitted with the students name, grade level and school on the back of the art work to Angela Whitehead at the Educational Services Division Complex (formerly the CLC-B), no later than September 28, 2012. The art work will be displayed for one week at the ESDC. At the end of the week, staff members will vote on the art work. The official theme and overall winner will be announced October 5, 2012 to the elementary schools by email. The overall district winner will receive special recognition during the Awards Ceremony at the Math Competition on Saturday, November 10, 2012. If a student from your campus wins, please invite them to this ceremony and encourage them to attend!
