Causes of the rise in disciplinary cases in school and suggestions to overcome the issue It has been observed that there is a rise in disciplinary cases in the school. As the Head Prefect of the school, I would like to report about the causes of the problem and suggestions to overcome the issue. There are many reasons that contribute to the increase in disciplinary cases. The first cause is lack of parents attention. Nowadays both parents are working to help support the family. Parents also say that they are very busy at work. As a result, they are not able to spend time with their children. Children are left alone at home unsupervised. When children are used to the freedom given by parents at home, they cannot learn to obey rules when in school. Next, students have no interest in studies. They say lessons in school are boring. They do not see the importance of education for their future. Moreover students nowadays do not have moral values. They are not respectful to parents and teachers. Some students come from poor family background. Their families face financial problems. They start stealing from teachers and students. Furthermore, students also face peer pressure. Students are willing to commit wrongdoings in order to be accepted in a group. The last cause is influence from the mass media. This younger generation has access to a lot of things, both good and bad. Some students made very bad judgements and are influenced by the violence they watch on television and in movies. They are involved in fights and bully cases. Even though this is a serious issue, there are ways to reduce the disciplinary cases in our school. First and foremost, parents must play their role in bringing up their children. Parents must spend more time with their children. Parents cannot give work as an excuse. They can spend quality time with their children like going for a holiday, picnic and shopping. Having dinner together as a family is also a good way of bonding with their children. Parents and teachers must stress on moral values. Children must be taught values like respect, responsibility, honesty and others from young. Students with discipline problems can attend motivational talks. They can learn about the importance of education and being disciplined. Problematic students can attend counselling sessions too. The counsellors can give advice to them on how to solve their problems. The school must carry out enforcement of the school rules. This is to make sure that all the students obey the school rules. The last suggestion in reducing disciplinary cases in school is to carry out Caring School Programme. By instilling love towards the school, students will be motivated to bring up the school name. Instead of being involved in unbeneficial activities, students can take part in interesting curricular and co-curricular activities. This will help them to become better and more disciplined students. I hope that the school administration will take note of the problem and carry out necessary actions to resolve the discipline problem. Carrying out the suggestions given will make the school a more conducive place to study.
