Finding Information for Business

Books Books for Business are held at a number of different classmarks and are located mostly on the second floor of the University Library under the 658 section. You are advised to use the library catalogue to find the location of an item. This will save you a lot of time and also show you if the item is available or out on loan. As an indicative guide, the most popular Dewey Decimal classmark numbers are: 174.4 Business Ethics 300.72 Research methodology and social science 330 Financial economics 332.6 Financial markets 337 International economics 338 Industrial economics 658 General management 658.401 Strategic management 658.404 Project management 658.5 Operations management Journals Some print journals are shelved on the top floor in alphabetical order of the title. They are for reference only and can be searched by performing a Journal Title Keyword search on the library catalogue. The majority of titles are available in electronic format on the universitys subscription databases. To search for a particular title, check the Electronic Journals A-Z, via Find it at Lincoln > more Resources. Finding journal articles by topic To find journal articles relating to a particular topic, use an appropriate bibliographic database which will

allow you to search hundreds of journals simultaneously. The articles will be available either in abstract format only (summary) or, in full-text. Databases A list of databases can be found via Find it at Lincoln > Databases. ABI-Inform, EBSCO (Academic Search Complete and Business Source Complete) These databases most useful for Business journal articles, featuring predominantly full-text articles. If the full text is not available, check the library catalogue for a printed copy or the Electronic Journals A-Z to see if it is available on another journal database. Emerald Management ejournals, and Emerald Management Xtra. If youre searching for HRM and management articles then searching these Emerald databases ought to be the first place you investigate. These journal databases are Brad Provides access to 'business critical' information for advertising and marketing professionals, including UK demographics, media industry overviews, and audience data for newspapers, magazines, television and radio. Global Market Information Database (Euromonitor International) This recently upgraded database is excellent for marketing news and comparing products in several different countries. IngentaConnect, Sage, Science Direct and SwetsWise are also worth investigating as they have

plenty of scholarly articles, all found under the database section under More Resources (http://library.lincoln.ac.uk). WARC.com WARC (World Advertising Research Center): includes case studies, best practice papers and advertising campaigns relating to advertising, marketing and market research. Financial and Company Information FAME (Financial Analysis Made Easy) contains financial accounts of over 550000 public and private companies in the UK and Ireland, from information received from Companies House. MarketLine Business Information Centre provides a concise overview of over 10,000 company profiles, 2,500 industry profiles in over 100 countries. Stock Price Information Factiva Academic is a recommended source of information for up-to-date company, financial and business news. Factiva has a five year archive of share prices, interactive graphs, and contextualising news stories. Websites like Google Finance and Yahoo Finance are also very useful. Newspapers The latest printed copies of The Times, Guardian, Independent and Financial Times are available on the ground floor of the Library. Newspapers are also available in full-text within the Lexis Library and Factiva databases. As well as national newspapers, titles include

many local papers, e.g. The Lincolnshire Echo, and Factiva includes a wide range of international publications. During term time you are able to buy the Financial Times at 50p from the Students Union Shop on the ground floor of the Main Building. Finding journals If you are looking for a specific article, search for the title of the journal in the Electronic Journals A-to-Z to find out whether it is available either in print or electronically such as: Applied Economics European Business Law Review Applied Financial Economics Fortune Bank of England Business Week Cambridge Journal of Economics European Economic Review Harvard Business Review Inflation Report Investors Chronicle Journal of Operations Management Strategic Management Journal The Econometrics Journal The Manchester School Wall Street Journal

Ebooks For ebooks choose Dawsonera and MyiLibrary from the Databases section of www.library.lincoln.ac.uk (under more resources from Find it at Lincoln).
